US Esta

Hi all!
I’m looking into Las Vegas for my partners 30th however...
In 2019 he was arrested for drink driving (DUI) convicted and banned until March this year.
1) can this stop him getting in to the US?
2) do we have to note this on the ESTA? If yes, which question?
The only question that has me confused me is Eligibility Question 2
“Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?”
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you in advance

There is nothing directly in the questions about drink driving so there is no reason to mention it on the ESTA. However, successfully completing an ESTA is not the same as successfully entering the USA.0

I don't believe the USA require that information. If you were going to Canada though that makes things difficult getting into Canada.
If anyone's not eligible for an ESTA or their ESTA gets refused then you'd need a B visa from the US embassy, which is $160 and lasts 10 years. You'll need an appointment at the embassy.0 -

Drink driving can make you inadmissible for the visa waiver program if you a minor is in the car, or if you do it within 500 yards of a school.0 -

Thank you!
I've seen online that if its 1 DUI its not considered a crime or moral turpitude the US don't see if being a huge issue.
I've answered all the eligibility questions as 'no' the only one that stumped me was;
"Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?"
But nobody/anything was harmed or damaged
Is there a lot to do on arrival to the US? I've never been...
I'd hate to spend the money on the trip and he not be allowed!0 -

If you get your esta (and your boyfriend needs his own) You are able to check your status (via the website) if you both get accepted then everything should be fine iirc its $14 each
.
In my 4 trips to the usa. before we left the uk. 3 times someone asked us at check in 1.if we had esta's and 2. what we are doing in new york (once) and the next 2 times were asked about what we are gonna be doing in vegas.
I think its pretty standard in respect the immigration lines and what not . so dont worry!
There is also a fantastic all things las vegas thread which will be of use .helpful tips and what not.:T
feel free to ask any questions0 -

For the last three years we've also been questioned at Manchester on other lines of what we do for a living, why are we travelling and even what's the name of your grandchildren's school.
It's called something like Conversation assessment. Nothing to worry about, but be ready for it.0 -

In hindsight we had that when we landed in LA but didn't realised at the time. The only things which amazed the lady who dealt with us at immigration were that we were there for 3 weeks and an even bigger shock for her was when we said we got a total of 38 days holiday each. She said they get 2 weeks.0 -

We've always had that in America. At Tampa, the staff did actually get to recognise us. We don't go so often now that the family are in cold New Jersey and the boys are not babies.0 -

What on earth is the point of asking ridiculous questions such as those, and precisely who is asking?0
