Op been to India 3 times
Do not drink the water unless is sealed and bottled, check the cap has not been opened and refilled. hotel will give you free bottled water...
Do not eat anything uncooked and washed in water e.g salads, no cold desserts e.g jelly that will have been made with water...
Fruit you peel is fine e.g banana
Remember to brush your teeth in bottled water and close your mouth in the shower, when you get out of the shower rinse your hands in bottled water.
Always use hand sanitizer after you touch anything and bring tissues with you ( bathrooms may not have them)
I have touchwood never been come down with anything .. but I am very careful.. no matter how nice the restaurant follow this and be
I personally don’t have anything contains meat while in India ( most Indians are vegetarian ) and the cooked vegg dishes are amazing and never boring.
I also eat the Indian breakfast at the hotel they make it fresh and it’s cooked .. avoid anything standing on a buffet..0 -

Possibly you are being over-cautious...
The chance of being infected from drinking contaminated water depends on how much you drink: a small 'dose' from the shower or brushing your teeth is less dangerous than drinking a glass of the same stuff.
I have never stayed in a hotel that provided free bottled water: however one rather ritzy hotel where I stayed once made it clear that they had their own supply of drinkable water and so the water in all their taps was safe to drink.
Similarly, there are some high-quality eating places where you can be confident that all the cold water used to wash salads, make cold desserts and fill glasses is from a safe supply: you cannot assume this is the case.0 -
For those who want to know, we had a wonderful time. We were the only ones who didint get sick etc, we santised all the time, didn't eat the salad, ate the local food as directed byy our guide and we also had travel probiotic tablets. The hotels all gave us bottled water as did the tour guide. We had plenty of money, spent approx £300, including two XL throws.1
