Noisy Ford EcoBoost engine
Just been to a dealer to look at the 1l fiesta EcoBoost. With the bonnet up the engine is quite noisy..a metallic rattle similar to a sewing machine. The salesman said it was normal for these engines and even pulled another EcoBoost alongside which had a similar rattle (although slightly quieter) . I thought it was just sales patter but looking on the Ford forums it seems to be a common issue... something to do with it being 3 cylinder or the fuel pump? Anyone here got one with this problem?

They are all like that sir, it's what happens when you try and extract a million HP from a 3 cylinder sewing machine motor lugging around 1ton+.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

If it's anything before a 66 plate don't touch it. Just search for Ford Ecoboost problems and you'll see why.
Personally I wouldn't touch Ford again with a bargepole. Horrendous customer service and serious issues with the ecoboost engines.0 -
The rattle at idle is a typical trait of direct injection engines - it's the fuel injectors and quite normal.
You don't drive around with the bonnet up so I wouldn't worry.
