For truly free audiobooks - always, and no fiddles or catches - I'm giving a shout out to Librivox.org (not allowed to post the link but it's easy to google.
The books are in the public domain, so they are older works, but include many of the classics (Moby !!!!!!, Dracula, assorted Dickens etc.). The books are all read by volunteers (often canadian/american), and quality can vary but most readers are quite good and some truly excellent (you quickly discover who they are). They have their own app so you can search by genre, reader, etc. Librivox has been a mainstay of my audiobook listening for years, and I find it really refreshing to escape the world of technology (and swearing!) into a less busy and complex era.0
