I see that the dealing deadline is 9am and the valuation point is 9pm.

So am I correct in thinking if i put an order in at 1pm tomorrow(Tuesday) it would be executed on Wednesday at the price determined at 9pm Wednesday evening?

But if i put it in now 945pm Monday it would be carried out at the price at Tuesday 9pm.

Ive looked at their and other platform providers sites and all still show last Fridays price, when do they normally update this?

Thank you.

Yes, although the deal could take up to 5 days to settle.

Usually the prices will be updated as of 9pm. US markets are closed today for Martin Luther King Jr day, so any Vanguard UK funds which include US stocks are closed for dealing:

Once they have calculated and published it.

The accountants probably don't have much interest in sitting around at 9.45pm calculating what the value of units in the fund were at 9pm this evening. They will go back into the office, do their work and publish it tomorrow.

Settlement due within two business days after the valuation point.

Would the price you pay be determined by the day (or day after if order placed after 9am)you buy or on settlement day?
Also which is officially purchase date for tax year purposes, I ask since I have a maturing bond on the 31st March and want to buy VLS80% with the funds into my S&S ISA before the next tax year and a little worried I may miss the deadline with the last couple of days this year being a weekend.
    Thank you.

Might not be a good idea to buy a large chunk of LS80 in one go, given the stock exposure.

The price you pay is determined at the valuation point. If you put your order in for £x in good time to catch the cut-off for the evening's valuation, the amount of units they give you will be determined by that evening's valuation. If you don't submit your order in time to be accepted for that day's valuation (eg you submit it in the afternoon) you will get the next valuation point instead.

You will need to put your money into the S&S ISA by end of day 5 April 2020 for it to count as a 2019/20 subscription.

It doesn't matter how long it then takes you to get around to then completing and settling your purchase of VLS or any other investment within the S&S ISA. You just need to get the money through the door into the ISA by 5 April; if your money doesn't get into the ISA until 6 April, it's a 2020/21 subscription.

    But it might be.

Same for any investment. If you don't like the investment mix because you think it's too high risk, you have the options of (a) instead buying something with lower risk, or (b) don't buy very much of it and instead keep some of your money in cash, creating some funny half-mix between being invested and not invested. Of those, I would go for (a).

Thank you bowlhead99 that makes it much clearer I can easily get the money in by then.

Sebtomato, that’s the fund I am comfortable with and happy to invest in, I am well aware investments can go up or down.

I was talking more about the timing of investing as opposed to the nature of the investment. If you invest in a fairly volatile fund (made of stocks), it may be preferable to drip-feed as opposed to invest a lump sum, particularly at a time where the stock markets are at a record high.

Unfortunately stock markets spend most of their time at or near record highs and there's nothing to say your split up fund purchases won't be buying at further increasing unit prices. It would be handy if they would be kind enough to crash horribly before making a lump sum contribution.

This is hopefully a purely academic question. You should not be buying VLS80 if such high chronological price resolution is important to you.
