Can car test Examiners be corrupt? My partner has failed 4 times now, and requested to have her teacher in the back seat while she takes her test which you can do these days to observe any mistakes and work on them assuming she fails, but the past 2 times shes failed her teacher said she drove fine and in her eyes passed, but the examiner tried saying she didnt do certain things when her teacher said she did it all fine.

How can you appeal or contest this sort of thing? Is it right the examiner has the final say when its possible some are corrupt.

I have heard cases where they are only allowed to create so many passes a day to minimise too many extra drivers, is this true?

No, the chances of a driving test examiner being "corrupt" are somewhere around zero.

And, no, there isn't a quota of passes. Drive well enough = pass. Don't drive well enough = fail.

Is the instructor a proper ADI? Or just a friend? Didn't your partner have what they'd failed on explained to them at the end of the test...?

AdrianC, yes the instructor is a proper ADI, its her business, so she isnt trying to be bias or anything towards my partner. But twice now she said she noticed the examiner wrongly failed her, tried to say she didnt do things correctly or didnt do them at all, yet the instructor said she did them.

I personally dont know what to believe, but given what I have said, how can you contest this?

The examiner, in the front passenger seat, will have had a much better view of the driver than somebody in the rear seat, of course.

    Appeal your driving test
You can appeal if you think your examiner did not follow the regulations when they carried out your test.

Your test result cannot be changed, but you might get a free retest if your appeal is successful.

    How to appeal
Contact your local magistrate's court within 6 months to appeal in England and Wales.

If you live in Scotland, contact your local sheriff's court within 21 days.

I wouldn't be so sure that there isn't a quota of pass and fail

Maybe the only hope it that they are corrupt, try offer the next examiner £200 to pass.

I'm certain there's not. Cos of the standard of driving of some road users, they must have passed but I can't see how.

Of course its possible for a Driving Test Examiner to be corrupt. Just as its possible for a policeman, lawyer, GP etc to be corrupt.

May I ask OP though - what benefit do you think the potentially corrupt Examiner - or Examiners would gain from failing your partner 4 times?

FWIW, my father and brother, both sadly deceased, were Senior Driving Examiners in the 1980s and 1990s. There wasn't a pass quota then and I'm sure there isn't one now.
