How does Revolut Card work?

Apologies, hopefully this is the right forum. I'll be going to Italy and then USA in a few weeks , so I'm thinking of getting a Revolut card to give me the best travel exchange rates. I've looked into it, but still not sure exactly how it works.
So a few questions:
- Can I use it as a credit/debit card for local transactions?
- any unused dollars and euros left at the end, can I withdraw them back to my normal current account in GBP?
I already have a barclaycard credit card which gives preferential exchange rates for foreign transactions but I want something pre paid like Revolut so it helps control the finances a bit better, and avoids that massive credit card bill a couple of weeks after we come back to the uk!
Thanks in advance

Hiya,
we use Revolute every time we go away its really good.
Yes it can be used as a credit/debit card whilst abroad and you wont be charged for using it, and yes you can withdraw any remaining balance back into your account at any time0 -
You cannot use it as a credit card as it is not one. It is a debit card.0

Another advantage of Revolut:
Load it with your home currency, exchange when rates are good and back to home currency when rates drop again.
We did this just before Christmas for a trip to Europe GBP-EUR @1.19, exchanged the leftovers back to GBP@1.16
Not a huge amount admittedly, but we actually made a little money.
The ability to hold numerous currencies also means that you are never left with that pocket full of foreign coins at the end of the trip.0 -
I’ve had a Revolut card for a few years now and it’s brilliant. Used it all over the place, anywhere that accepts MasterCard.
You load on GBP, but you can convert To other currencies in app if you want to. Or just leave it in GBP and spend away where ever you are. I usually just leave it in GBP all the time, unless the rate is very, very good when I happen to look.
The only times I’ve ever had problems with it are buying subway tickets in New York and Berlin, and at some pay at pump petrol stations.0
