I would think Black out blinds as close to the window as possible, Black out curtains suitably oversized followed by a pair of eyelids would pretty much make it pitch black or are you trying to do something other than sleep like camera film development?

    No, just sleep ;)

I've struggled with this, I like it dark, but don't fancy bricking up the window!

I bought perfect fit blinds, which clip to the double glazed frame: https://www.perfectfitblindsuk.com/ (plenty of places sell them, but I found this lot were cheaper).

There's still some light leakage, but I do then have curtains with a separate blackout lining hung behind them. I sewed velcro to the lining, which is then velcro-ed to the wall (https://www.screwfix.com/p/velcro-brand-white-stick-on-tape-5-x-20mm/58661).

There is still a tiny bit that sneaks in up towards the ceiling - but it really is minimal - even in direct sunlight on the window.

I did find the Bloc blind system that fits within tracks to the window reveal, but the costs were high and they didn't do them tall enough for my windows.

Do you get any trouble with condensation under the perfect fit blinds? I'd like to get some but my windows get a lot of condensation (whatever I do) and I'm thinking the blinds would get black mould if I couldn't dry it off.

Not so far, they've been fit for about nine months. My windows are triple glazed, and the bedroom has an open original fireplace which may help prevent that by ventilating the room.
