Hello all
We must have pleased the weather gods here in Yorkshire. Another beautiful bright winter's day. Will definitely get out for a walk somewhere this morning. Back to the GP this afternoon to see if he can make any sense of DH's test results.
Dumpling - I think I've found the weight you lost. I did fine over Christmas but always seem to put on weight in January. Must try harder!
Well, better go for this walk while the sun still has his hat on.
Have a good day y'all0 -
TA, I'm glad Sparkle has settled well.
Tru and Sparky I hope your cold and ankle get better soon.
We travelled up to Yorkshire via the Wirral yesterday, stopping at sister-in-laws to leave a tv table/chest that Chris and Crystal have passed on to her. We had a meal with her son and his family and passed on some late presents, one of which was a voice synthesizer for the the 5 year old. I'm glad I don't have to listen to that any more.
It's not as cold up here as I thought it would be - no frost. I have an optician's appointment as I need new glasses. It's about 5 years since I had some but at £300 plus for the special lenses I keep putting it off. I have an awful feeling that if I leave it any longer the present ones will break and I'll be stranded because I am very, very short sighted.0 -
Morning all
Dogs walked and waiting for breakfast. Our Kassie has not been well all weekend and has a cough and very lethargic but seems a little better this morning we have been very worried all weekend saw the vet on Friday and she said it was a flu bug and to come back in a week if she was no better so we will see fingers crossed.
Today i will be floor washing and tidying up DH is on nights so i need to keep the noise down
Sausage casserole for dinner
Right onwards n upwards have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning all,
We had lots of fog yesterday and it looks like it's coming down again. I ventured very carefully to the park earlier, the pavements were icy and slippy - not a good combo with a 10st dog. Refilled the bird feeders and gave then a good wash, they were frozen yesterday so the poor birds couldnt dislodge the seeds, ok now &:D several bluetits and a wren have been so far
House is fairly tidy due to having friends round on Sat night but there is a mountain of washing to get through.
Not sure what to make for tea yet, think I'll get some chicken out, then carry on with the laundry, and some admin for DH later.
Hope dp1 's DGD improves soon, and you too tru.Happy Days all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
We had another frost last night but not nearly as hard as Saturday night. The sun is shining just now.
Bad night last night so a late start this morning.
Load in the washer, I want to ctach up so have done a mixed load on a 30o wash.
Sliced yesterdays bread, I have the lamb to take off the bone, we will have it again tonight with mash and veg.0 -
Morning all! Been up for a while but the cat wanted to play with his feathers on a stick...Very cold here yesterday and today is not looking much better but I left a brick on the fire last night and it's burning happily away now..
Made an appointment to see the diabetic nurse [ after the last week I've had, it's time to face facts...] but that's not till almost the end of February so I have some time to start sticking to the diet....I can cheer you on dumpling, might need some help myself occasionally thoughI did buy the Pinch of Nom book and the recipes look lovely so I can definitely try some of those...Eating breakfast really helps though...Who knew it would take me this long to work that out?
Anyway, today then, since I'm not going anywhere for a bit is shower, dress and pack for Wales. I'm not really wanting to go there because if it snows I'll be stuck [not completely though, 4x4 and all that...], but I think my sister misses me, and there is plenty of stuff to do there....I could leave OH in charge of research and ideas for a change
Right onwards....backwards...sideways...and finally straight ahead!
TA, good luck with your little ball of Bossdumpling, well done on the weight loss, I've been watching a lot of Maangchi videos for ideas, and quite a lot of her cooking is viable on a diet, but only if you like spicy stuff
Gers, glad you and camelot had a good catch up, you are not alone in thought, there will always be [ as long as this thread runs] someone who understands, or sympathises, or thinks you're ace...[this is not just me by the way, speaking on behalf of...nearly everyone? just remember that when you're feeling a bit down...] AOD, if the light was that bright, you need some black out curtains
tru, hope the lurgy goes quickly, it's no fun at all. Rosy, what 10st dog have you got? Is it big and fluffy? Can I have her/him? Blimey camelot, also very proactive...Have a good day if you can, hey all reading along...Machine gun Monday!

Lovely words TAFF - many thanks!:o
Well, so far I've been productive. I made an appointment for the dental hygienist as that's overdue. After feeding and watering DM I headed out. It's surprisingly not cold, bit windy but not too bad. I took some stuff to the tip, tried to collect a script for DM but it wasn't ready yet, bought some roasted chicken for DM and then went for my walk around swan lake.
It's stunning to see so many swans, ducks, coots and geese right in the middle of a housing estate. Someone had brought food so loads of them zoomed across the water to grab some. There's a huge plastic duck also floating around - it has 'don't feed me bread' written on it. Not sure how effective that message is.
Anyway, back home. Had my lunch of a too soft avocado with red pepper and just about to give DM her lunch. She's about to be engrossed in her TV programme which I can't interrupt. :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all.
The sun is shining again, it certainly lifts my mood, so no need of the SAD lamp today :j. No blue Monday for me
We took advantage of the weather and went out this morning. First to top up on petrol ( we are taking Dad to Trago tomorrow ) then on to check the 'van, all ok there. Next to b & m for some paint ready to do the kitchen diner and I will try not to just look at the tubs, but to actually crack on with it. I bought more wild bird food too, as they seem to be famished lately and are eating me out of house and home. I also needed milk and bread so we visited Li*l on the way home and spent more than I needed again, because someone kept putting things in my trolley " to try ". I knew I should have left him in the car with the window open a bit :rotfl:. My highlight of the day was seeing a hawk sitting on a lamp post next to the road, quietly watching for prey. He/she was probably looking for stranded motorists
TA you will never be a lost cause, but you can join me in the "must do better" tribe :rotfl:
Gers what a lovely photo ! We have a lake like that, but it would be called a "goose lake" as we have no swans only aggressive geese and ducks
Dumpling well done on the weight loss. I don't feel like I've lost a lb, despite cutting down / cutting out food since xmas
taff if it snows I'll be there at your side with a box of goodies and a shovel :rotfl: Well lets get our priorities right !
Sending healing vibes to all the poorly people, babies and animals. I shall send out the Sandman to the sleepless and hugs to anyone who is in need.
Take care all
