It could be that he's keeping a savings account open with Nationwide, not for the interest but for sentimental reasons? That's why I keep a Halifax Xtra-interest savings account with all of £1 in it because it's the successor to the very first joint account my partner and I opened together in our student days in Leeds exactly 49 years ago this month.oooh. You are sticking with their savings account(s) despite their terrible interest rates now?
In comparison, our Nationwide FlexAccount is relatively new - only 33 years! In that time and with numerous other accounts, the few problems that have occurred (and most of those would be due to my errors or some third party) have all been successfully overcome by the staff in our local branch. (Thank you Margaret!)0
