Co-op transfer to Octopus Energy

Anyone had problems with this merger/transfer? Transferred both gas and electric to Co-op Energy on deal I was happy with. Only a few months later informed that business would be transferred to OctopusEnergy who are proving to be a shambles.

Had to chase them for my first bill (four months in).

I asked Octopus Energy for their BACS details and they replied "We don't currently offer Direct BACS payment transfers." So I had to pay by credit/Debit Card or cheque if I wanted to continue one off payments? I reread their bill and found the BACS details there? Why didn't the guy know this?

I queried if quarterly statement would continue, and received the following reply - "I can confirm that if you both paid and were billed quarterly, this won't change."

One month later I've received an estimated bill, so appears I'm now to be billed monthly?

Don't get it. I admit I had stayed with my previous provider too long, but in all those years I'd never had any issue, things ran like clockwork. Only a few months in with Octopus Energy I'm ready to jump ship - just as annoyed with Co-op Energy who must have known they were about to transfer at the time of my sign up.

Any other customers had similar issues?

  • Hi. I would jump ship as I think there are cheaper out there.

I moved over from Co-Op and a week or so ago emailed them to ask why my balance updates but not had a bill. Well within an hour I got a reply and a bill from July to now.

I get warm home discount and Octopus have taken on the Co-Op criteria so for myself I won't change this account.

I'm with co-op now Octopus and they have been ok. I've moved to a cheaper tariff with no problem. They made on error with the DD but apologised and credited me with £30 without asking. So far, so good.
  • Definitely not happy with the transfer from Co-op Energy to Octopus Energy. Too many email from them. Also ticked off to read on the MSE forums that people have been given £50 to join Octopus Energy on referral links. Existing Co-op Energy customers were not given that choice! I'll be moving house soon otherwise I wouldn't stay with Octopus Energy.
