iphone SE Charging problems

Hi.
My iphone Se is almost 2 years old and having problems! It's charging really slowly and i'm finding that the charge drops really quickly and sometimes the phone shuts itself down, although it has charge. I'm unsure if the problem is just the battery though - before this happened I opened an email (did not open any attachments though) and then, at the top saw a warning in Red writing saying something along the lines of 'Warning, this person has not contacted you on this email address before'. I was also experiencing being sent to sites not requested but this now seems to have stopped.
Any advice re this (in simple tech speak please :rotfl:) would be greatly appreciated. I'm concerned that malware may be on the phone and daren't use banking apps etc. Am I worrying too much please?
Many thanks

Factory reset it if you would like, I'm not sure if iPhones can get malware, Ill let someone else answer that.0

Check your battery health on it. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health If it's 80% or less it'll need a new battery. I usually change my battery at around 85% battery health. I've had an SE for almost 4 years now, changed the battery after about 2 years as it kept dropping charge. Also it may say if it's experienced unexpected shutdowns as well. My phone's on 88% battery health, so is due for a replacement battery soon!
Go to an Apple store and get them to change your battery for you.
I don't know what the email thing is about, could have just been a potential spam filter warning about an email? Apple phones tend not to be prone to viruses or malware like Android can be.0 -
If you are able you can schedule a visit to a store to let them have a look at it. Mind you depending on what sort of "Genius" you get it may take a little while for them to fix any issues. Three visits in my case to agree with me that the battery was faulty. It showed as 98% health but you could watch the level drop as you used it. I was lucky to get two hours use. A new battery sorted that.
There is also an Apple support app that you could download, I used it ages ago but recent reviews for it have not been great.
I think the email warning was just that, a warning that you were getting email from a new/unknown sender.
Obviously never click on unknown links in an email and make sure the "Fraudulent Website Warning" is enabled within Safari settings.
I rarely use Safari as my browser but have this switched on anyway.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -
I was experiencing similar with my iphone se in terms of unexpected shutdowns when the battery was still showing 30 odd percent. Battery health was around 88%.
It seemed to be linked to using a cigarette lighter charger to top up my phone when I was driving- I'd just automatically plug it in all the time. Didn't realise this was potentially bad for the battery until I researched it a little. Wife has exactly the same phone, purchased at same time, and her original battery is fine- this is the only difference really with our usage and charging habits.
Anyway, I'd just concentrate on replacing the battery. I went for this one:

It is a little fiddly to install but if you have patience/steady hands, it's simple enough. The main thing is to make sure you don't pull too hard on the home button cable as you open the phone up. The battery is higher capacity than the original one so actually performs better.0 -
I think a genuine iPhone battery is £49 installed at an Apple authorised service centre. I’d recommend this over some dodgy knock off Chinese copy for a £10-£15 saving.
False economy me thinks.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Not entirely the case. As above some after market replacements are in fact higher capacity battery, and the difference is noticeable. If you don't live near an apple shop, it's not convenient. Posting it off to them takes over a week to get the phone back. DIY replacement saves around £40 (factoring in delivery), is much more convenient (takes around 30-40 minutes), and in my experience gets a better battery. I get that the problem with an independent shop is that you might not know what they are putting in, but for a phone only worth around £70-80, spending over £50 to replace a battery seems a little bit overkill.0
