UKCPM PCN - Friend staying overnight

Hello,
I live in a block of flats with allocated parking spaces in an underground parking - under the block of flats. In order to get access to the parking you need to open both a gate and a barrier beforehand - therefore, nobody can enter if not living there.
Last night , I had a friend over and he parked his car in my neighbour's allocated seat (they moved out a while ago, so no one is living there anymore) - next to my car in the parking just described above. As he spent the night, in the morning we found a PCN displayed in his windscreen.
I find it outrageous that if I have a friend over he can be charged for parking in an area that is clearly accessible only for the residents and their guests.
Is there a way I can appeal and get this cancelled considering the circumstances? ( I' ve searched the forum and could not find any piece of advice)
Thanks a lot for your help!

Unlikely , but you should have read the Newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum
You should also read your lease or AST and see what the parking requirements are
There would have been signs and the management company would have employed the PPC , so why did you not know about it and the Parking requirements ?
The PPC is there to stop people parking in spaces where they should not Park , you have no rights to allow someone to park in a neighbour's free space , hence the PCN, the parking company have acted correctly and done their job0
