Old Style Daily Sunday 19th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone :hello:

I can't sleep so I have tiptoed downstairs to make a cup of tea and potter around the interweb :). I am processing yesterday's visits from Steve's best friend and his partner. I was so horribly anxious before they came I considered staying upstairs but gave myself a talking to and came down to say hello to them. It was actually fine, they were on top form and full of jokes and good humour which relaxed me.

They went off to do some sight seeing and then returned in the evening to share a Chinese takeaway with us. We ended up watching a load of tv programmes I had never seen (the Masked Singer and the Voice and most eyebrow raising was Naked Attraction!) I certainly feel educated now :rotfl::rotfl:. All in all it was a successful day and I feel happy to have spent time with them.

Today we are just relaxing, the washing is up to date and Steve is cooking a roast for dinner. There is lots of takeaway left over for the kids to have for brunch and I have been craving a healthy ploughman's salad after seeing several versions on Facebook . I will confess I was hoping to snaffle a chicken ball to munch on but they were all eaten so I had a babybel instead, not quite the same but probably quite a bit better for me :D.

I spent a lovely afternoon crafting with my grand daughter. Her brother had been invited to his friend's house to play so we had a fantastic afternoon making little lovebugs to go on cards. She then secretly made me a card to say I was the best granny ever so that made my day.

Right, I am off to find something to watch on tv until everyone gets up. Phoebe starts work at 6am so she will be down in a little while to get some breakfast before she goes. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever you are doing. Take care everyone xx

Morning everyone

dumpling - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark, frosty start to the day.

DH in the bath, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa whilst on here. Boys still in their pits, but have taken cuppas to both of them - we need to be leaving in an hour so that's why we're moving at such an early hour on a Sunday - will definitely be having a lie-in next weekend.

Dinner last night was lovely pizza from a local takeaway - always lovely and much better price than the big chain takeaway pizza places too. Not sure what we'll be eating later but likely to be getting something whilst out. Hoping we won't be too late getting back so I have time to get organised for work tomorrow and some chill time.

Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:

I'm glad your new boss has settled in TravellingAbuela :D

I've felt drained the last few days, then on friday I was supposed to take Scamp for a walk while mr tru went to the opticians, I didn't feel too bad when we left the house but by the time we got there, I was achy and shivering. Poor Scamp had been stuck in the car with me for ages, mr tru took him for a run nearby and left me in the car with the heater on. Then it took an hour to get home, it was rush hour and there were two lots of roadworks. I was so relieved to get home – a hot shower, lots of clothes and a blanket on the sofa meant I was asleep by 7.30pm :D A cold kicked in nicely yesterday, luckily the shivering and most of the aching has stopped. I have a bit more energy but I'm just plodding along at the moment. I have tissues (well, loo roll) in every room, those sneezing fits come with no warning :D

It's taken three attempts to watch Aladdin (I kept falling asleep, lol) but I managed it last night. Will Smith's genie is fabulous. We had the cartoon version years ago and I'd watch it with the kids, I was amazed that I remembered the words to some of the songs more than twenty years later :D I'll watch it again soon, it'll be nice to see the whole thing in one go rather three parts, lol.

It's been frosty for the past couple of days, I haven't looked outside yet but it's very cold again. No rain, which I'm pleased about. Everything is so soggy and it needs a few days to dry out.

More plodding around today, I'm not going to rush anything. If I feel tired I'm going to sit, no matter what I'm doing at the time. I might plan my seed planting later, if I do end up lounging around a lot at least I'll feel like I'm doing something useful :D

• Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING. Gosh a few early birds on here which is unusual for a Sunday. I would have slept longer too I think except a certain cat thought it was time I got up to play with her! She is currently tearing around like Usain Bolt.

It was round one to her yesterday! I definitely know my place! After looking at another bowl of uneaten cat food I took myself off to Sainsbobs to get her the Felix and the Go=Cat the carer had been giving Her! Sadly the Felix remained uneaten but I left her the Go-Cat down overnight and this morning the bowl is empty! We have progress! The appliance cupboard I tidied out last week now has boxes of every flavour and brand of cat food stuffed in there and once again I can't get at my gadgets easily!

Not a lot planned for today other than the dreaded bed change. Plus the much postponed hair colour as I am definitely sporting the horrible skunk look. I got my Leek and Potato soup made yesterday and that is now stowed away in the freezer when needed for lunches. I use the Lakeland soup 'n' sauce bags but I was pleased to notice Poundland are now doing a version. Only 6 in a bag, whereas Lakeland's have 20 so doesn't work out an awful lot cheaper but it's more convenient to just pop in there.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all x

Hello everyone

Cold and frosty morning here but bright too. Much better than the constant rain.

Nothing very exciting happening here, but I don't mind that. We found the furniture workshop easily with the help of satnav. It's a marvel really - gets us to the right place and gives DH someone else to argue with! "Why us it taking us down the A1?" etc.

Had a good day yesterday finishing off loose ends, and plenty more to do today!

Hope everyone has a sunny Sunday.
• Good morning, it's fine but bitterly cold here.

Sorry to hear you've got a bad cold Tru, hope you soon feel better.
Sounds as if Sparkle is settling in well TA!! I got some of those soup bags in Yor*shire Trading Co, they are fine, about 6 for a £1, but perfectly ok.

We went to Northumberlandia yesterday and it was bracing, it was 4 degrees with a lively NW wind blowing. We werewell wrapped up, there were quite a lot of people there.

That was it really. I'd done a quick shop in Al*i, before lunch, didn't spend much.

Hope everyone has a good day - take care folks.

Morning All

Cold and frosty this morning but looks like the sun will be shining, may have an hour in the garden later. The washing can go out too, yesterday's bedding was nearly dry when I brought it in.

Glad you had a good day dumpling, good company certainly lifts the spirits.
Hope you recover from the cold quickly tru.

Good day yesterday, I was at Ikea for it opening at 9 to return something, on to Costco for fuel (it's a lot cheaper there and I was nearly passing) then into Glasgow to sort out an account which I did with a lovely coffee on the house! I had a little look around some of the shops but don't need anything and nothing jumped out at me so kept my money. Drinks at friends last night with some good company and stayed out until 11.30 which is very late for me!

I have two banana loaves in the oven as someone gave me some soft bananas at work to 'see if you can do anything with these'. I'll take the cakes into work then!

Meeting the lovely Gers for a coffee this morning, always a pleasure.

Have a happy Sunday, take care. XX

Morning everyone
White with frost here this morning - looks pretty but I'll have to go down to my mam and dads soon so I hope it's not slippy.
I went to visit DD and little granddaughter yesterday. She'd pulled her tube out the night before and they'd had problems getting it back in so she'd needed 2 X-rays. Neither of them had slept - I tried nursing baby and pushed her in her pram for about 2 hours but no - every time she gave in and closed her eyes they popped open again a minute later.
Hopefully they've had a better night last night.
From Monday they're going to try feeding her her usual amount of milk into her bowel and a little into her stomach to see if she's still sick...bless her she has a tube up each little nostril now.
Well I'd better get on, I want to hoover and steam mop the kitchen floor before I go out. Once I get home about 12 I'll have the rest of the day to myself - I'm looking forward to it
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all

Thick fog here this morning its quite spooky. Had a lie in in of sorts for me my kind brain allows me a night off on a sat from its over thinking.

No real plans today but I may attack a couple of cupboards that are becoming dangerous to open for fear of jar attack

Sky have kindly offered me a free film from the store so I have downloaded Downton Abbey which I never got round to seeing at the cinema. Popcorn is in and my evening is sorted

Food last night was a bacon cheese burger and sweet potato fries which was ok but somehow the toaster burnt the roll and the sweet potato things were not a patch on proper chips....roll on this freezer being empty wont buy them again. Tonight should be better I have my last bag of christmas dinner goodies for dinner so turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast pots, sprouts and carrots. :)

Dumpling Must be wonderful to have Steve doing all this cooking for you.
TA Sounds like Sparkle needs her own cupboard ...jump to it girl :D
beenthere I would have to move out :o mice and me could never get on...hope you can sort it
tru get well soon lovely

Have a great Sunday all
