Options
Believe it or not I have been crying:eek: - with total frustration. On the 19th Nov I spent hours doing a large amout of my christmas shopping online at
M & S. 17 items total £153 (including £10 discount on order and free postage :money:This is MSE afterall).I received one item a few days later. Waited in for 10 DAYS - order never arrived. E mailed them this morning and they said they had STOCK ISSUES and couldn't meet the order and cancelled the lot. GUTTED. I thought I'd done the bulk of my shopping and now I havn't and I'm REALLLLLLLLLLLLLy disappointed and guess waht they offered me as compensation. £15 off my next order - THEY WISH - why would I order from them again.:confused:_pale_:huh::angry:

Ah, come on - worse things happen at sea, surely?

I thought you were going to say the goods had been lost and they woudn't replace them!

Try to look at it from a positive angle...sure you wasted a bit of time, but you're £15 better off potentially! (am happy to take the voucher off your hands if you want?:D :D )

It is pretty rubbish but at least you have been given £15 without loads of agro.

There is still plenty of time before christmas so I wouldnt worry too much :)

M&S have a habit of treating their on-line customers with total contempt, they are unbelievably bad.

if you search you will find threads about their summer on-line sale, where many (most?) customers' orders were accepted but left unfilled. We were given £25 in SHOP vouchers because we complained.

Their policy is 10% "without prejudice" (= they don't have to do it) but THB they know their on-line service sucks - so maybe you might consider contacting them again -maybe by phone?- to get them to reconsider their poor offer.

    I would want to stress:
    - they are a reputable, trusted company
    - the time you spent choosing
    - they accepted the order, nothing was shown as 'out of stock'
    - they took the payment (= a contract to deliver the goods)
    - they didn't have the courtesy to contact you promptly
    - you now have to make other arrangements to select special gifts for your family abroad, with short deadlines etc etc
    - you do not feel any confidence in their 'on-line' service
    - you have already 'lost' more than £15 with the offer and free P+P

They may be a bit awkward- as my order was in my OH's name they would only speak to him!!- but stay calm but firm.

I think £15 in your hand is better than an e-voucher for a service that you don't want to use ever again.

    Hope this helps.

    Edited to say:
the July 2007 thread about the M&S online sale fiasco does not appear to be available now. Basically, they treated lots of other loyal customers as badly as you have been. I have NEVER bought on-line from them since.

Of course I know that worse things happen at sea GP but seriously, it's just Sucks - HAVE THEY GOT ANY STOCK:mad:. Thank's for your comments Luxor I've sent a letter to the complaints department at M&S. If they can't meet an order in Nov what chance have they got in Dec....their web site says it's all in stock so you wouldn't know either...you could be waiting thinking you've got xmas all "wrapped up". I just wanted to warn people, they have obviously spent all their money on Twiggy:eek:

    Oh darling!

    I'd cry too!

It's SO frustrating when you've got a job done and ticked off "The List" - but then No...you've got to do it all over again.

As if you didn't have enough to think about...
Have a bit a rant about it, have a :coffee: maybe, then take a deep breath and move on honey.

If it cheers you up, you've just stopped me ordering from M&S. :D (that'll teach 'em! :p )

    Love Jacks xxx :D

I learned about their rotten service when I had ordered all my holiday clothes and was really excited as I thought I had got some great bargains; I was getting over surgery and did not have the energy to go to the shops.

I was sent confirmation e-mails,waited - and when the first parcel didn't arrive put it down to heavy demand.
They FINALLY contacted to say 1 item was O/S, and then there was a steady drip of e-mails: at one time I was going to have to pay full P+P on one item (costing £1.25!), but then that was O/S too.

That was 4 months ago, but they still have not got their system sorted out. it is incredible, as service in their stores is excellent

I've posted on your other thread, setmefree - not had any experience of the online service, but I complained to head office one time about shoddy local service, and they were a lot better. Have some :bdaycake: and :coffee:

  • have to say i used m&s online when the had their summer sale, spent £60 on various stuff and waited for it to arrive. I received 1 item after about 5 days then nothing turned up. I telephoned them asking what had happened they said they were sorry but them items were no longer in stock although the sale had only been on for 5 mins when I did my shopping and i had not got any email etc informing me that items were out of stock. I got a refund for the item i did purchase and thy sent me £30 vouchers for my trouble and quidco went through.

have to say i don't think i would use m&s if i really wanted something in particular but was more than happy with the way it as resolved:D
