First Parking Appeal Help

Hi Guys,

So long story short, I went to University for a couple of hours in December to sit an exam, but forgot to pay for parking completely. They usually use a RingGo system, and the car park has ANPR cameras.

A couple of weeks ago, I received a PCN through the post from First Parking which I've attached to this thread.

I used the basic template which can be found in the newbies thread, as this has helped me out with having a UKPC ticket dismissed before as they never ended up sending a POPLA code to me.

However, with First Parking, they've hit back with a threatening email and I'm not sure at all what to say!

I've attached their response to the email appeal also, and would really appreciate all of your help with this, as I'm quite stressed out with this!

Absolutely no need for all those spaces. One is enough to make the links 'dead'.

Caught before fairly recently by another scammer, how come you've been caught again? What are you learning from this forum?

you only needed to change it from http to hxxp, swapping 2 letters , lol
or to add a single space , or an underscore etc

they are phishing for driver details , do not tell them

IGNORE and wait until after that deadline for either a cancellation of a popla code

Apologies - I wasn't aware! I honestly completely messed up this one by forgetting to pay when I actually normally do... The previous ticket was a free parking lot, but I forgot to get a free ticket.

Thank you for the input! I will ignore as you've suggested and hopefully they don't try to follow up with anything :)

If they do insist I pay, shall I email back asking for a POPLA code?

    Thanks.

They will. They don't go away when they smell money. Oh were it as straightforward as that!

Nope, you wait to see if they respond before 35 days with a rejection of your appeal and your POPLA code. It's their job to do that, not for you to remind them. If they fail, you report them and complain to the BPA.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Hi Guys - just an update on this case.

F1RST Parking have responded saying they've rejected my appeal, and have provided a POPLA code.

Does anyone have any sort of advice as to how I can submit a POPLA appeal regarding my specific case - as I know technically I should have paid, but I simply forgot to?

Really do appreciate the help with this!

My university are a bunch of tw*ts to be frankly honest with you - I haven't even bothered as I know the type of people the admin staff are, they wouldn't give a single crap.

Yep, there is nothing to be gained by talking about what actually happened! Use the templates, that is what they are there for.

    The PCN is POFA compliant:

    https://i.imgur.com/fs8LAjC.jpg

So no point using POFA keeper liability stuff or the template point about the individual not being shown to be the driver.

Show us some photos of the signs. They are probably sparse and in tiny font?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
