Identity Stolen, can't get credit

Hi,
My identity was stolen last year. A Marbles Credit card was opened in my name and almost £1000 worth of debt run up.
I have alerted the credit card company who have closed the account and confirmed it was fraudulent. A CIFAS warning has been added to my credit report. I have also ensured that the adverse credit has been removed from my Equifax, Experian and TransUnion reports.
However, I have just applied for a NatWest credit card and been refused. I have never previously had any bad credit and never had any problems getting credit until now.
Please can someone offer any advise?

Check your three credit files to see what each shows, in detail.
If everything is ok, you need to consider whether other commitments or income is an issue.
If they're ok, apply elsewhere.0 -
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Have you checked your three credit files before applying for credit. You need to take a look, to make sure the data is all accurate.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Edit - my husband's identity was also stolen at the same time.0

Give him the same instructions.0 -
Yes, I have confirmed that all the details are correct0

Do you have any other credit cards already?
Do you have any other credit accounts in your sole name or jointly with your husband?
Are you both on the Electoral Register?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

There is no reason to believe that the Natwest refusal was connected to the theft of your and your husband's identities.0

These two things may be unrelated.
Others have posted about being rejected for credit despite having 'perfect' credit files and 'scores'.0 -
Just because you haven't been rejected before it doesn't mean your not immune to being rejected.0
