Car insurance claiming hep

Few weeks ago a driver reversed into me when they were parking.. We agreed no claims need to made as minor damage and they agreed to pay for repairs if i can get a quote and share. I got a quote of £350 to repair my bumper fully. But the individual stopped responding and then went ahead and submitted a claim to say i drove into them and submitted an injury claim. My insurance said since I cannot prove they reversed into me since they have rear end damage i am at fault. Nothing I could do to prove my innocence.

I still have a damaged bumper, and since I have a fully comp insurance, I called my insurance to say i want to claim on my policy to get this damage fixed. as the excess is £150 and paying this is cheaper than spending £350.

Prior to this accident i had 4 years NCB.

The insurance representitive said If they insurance fix this damage i will be left with 0 NCB. They said i lost 2 years NCB for the claim made by third party and if i proceed for my insurance to fix my damage i will be left with 0 NCB. But what i am not understanding is this damage was caused as a result of the third party claim on my insurance and since they already deducted my 2 years ncb why can they not fix the damage under the 3rd party claim rather than creating a new claim?

Yes, you're right - it should be the one claim.

Prolly cos you waited weeks to inform them?
The 3rd party is claiming from you 1 incident, you are claiming for the repair 2 incidents.

DUTR is wrong. It's a single incident. Your insurance company is probably confused. Speak to them and put them right.

The OP has spoken to them hence the purpose of the thread, you mention WRONG which is a strong word, the incident occurred and the OP didn't inform the insurers as soon as, they only learned about via the claim from the 3rd party! Now the OP wishes to claim for damage to his car , so logically one can see why this can appear as 2 claims. It'll be interesting when the renewal invitation arrives ;)

Hey DUTR - I actually did inform the few days after the collision. I told them there will be no claim from me or third party as we will solve it outside of insurance, they said that is fine and will keep the information on record for their reference. Good thing they did.
Yep renewal should be very intresting and infurating as i will be suffering for the lies of others and something that is not my fault

Yes you can update them for information purposes, you cannot speak for the 3rd party (as you subsequently discovered when the lodged a claim).
The accident occurred and it appears there is some shared liability towards the claim.
The next premium will reflect the risk (of profit) you offer to the underwriters.
