  • Congrats on the promotion :T

Looking forward to keeping up with your diary and saving!

Thanks Bennettxoxo, hope all is well with you too! Definitely think the diary is helping me keep focused on my saving goals, wish I'd started one sooner :).
  • Shaping up to be another cheap day. Bought a drink (I have a sweet tooth) for £1.95 but used preloaded credit I bought last month. Also bought two doughnuts on a BOGOF offer for me and DW to celebrate promotion for £1.90 and got a voucher for another free doughnut for completing a survey! :) Also remembered to scan my receipts.
  • Probably a NSD as I'm working from home. Almost had to buy new headphones because they had an accidental spin in the washing machine but somehow they survived! Guess they really are waterproof! :O Almost the weekend now!
  • Another cheap day. Just another drink (£1.95) using my preloaded credit which is close to running out so needs to reloading next week.

Have learned that my favourite cafe/street food place now delivers to ours so temptation will probably get the better of us this weekend...
  • Bit of a gap because I've had a stinking cold and fever combo. Slowly on the mend and got my magic pay cheque today. I've used it to top up baby boy's ISA and put some aside for holidays so figures are as follows (I won't keep including EF and IVF fund figures as those remain untouched unless needed, touch wood):

Running totals for 2020 as at 29/01
    2020 10% overpayment: £13,500 of £13,600 made
    2021 10% overpayment: £0 of approx £12,000 saved
    £99.50 "extra" savings
    £624 holiday funds

I've also opened an easy access savings account to fling my emergency funds and 2021 overpayment in since my original "savings" account has a rate of 0.2% (with the option to switch to 0.1%...). New account has a rate of 1.35% and pays interest monthly so should be getting £13-20 a month depending on how much is in the account.
  • NSD yesterday and a low spend day today, just £4 for a card, £20 drinks top up for the next month or more and £5 for lunch. Receipts scanned.

Looking like a cheapish weekend as I'm still on the mend but hopefully we'll make it out for a nice lunch with baby boy on Sunday.
  • Lovely weekend so far with a nice lunch out with DW and baby boy using a discount code. DW is now on the no pay part of her maternity leave but finances are looking very good considering.

Running totals for 2020 as at 02/02
Mortgage £122,107.32 (February interested added but February payment yet to be deducted)
    2020 10% overpayment: £13,500 of £13,600 made
    2021 10% overpayment: £0 of approx £12,000 saved
    £104.50 "extra" savings
    £624 holiday funds
  • Another NSD today. Had a ready meal left over from when I had the lurgy for lunch, got a drink with my prepaid credit and picked up a free doughnut for doing a survey. Four day week as we're off to Dover on Friday. Train tickets bought and accommodation paid for so it's just food and probably a trip to the castle to factor in!
  • Treated myself to sushi for lunch from my work lunch budget (£5.95), got a free hot choc and ordered jerk for tea (with a 20% off voucher). Bit of a pricier day but a delicious one!
  • Another cheap day. Lunch was takeaway leftovers plus bought a drink using prepaid credit and BOGOF doughnuts for £2.20.

Amazingly, my parents have very very kindly offered to contribute to the mortgage overpayments as part of an early inheritance so that will definitely speed up the process!

Running totals for 2020 as at 05/02
    Mortgage £121,217.97
    2020 10% overpayment: £13,500 of £13,600 made
    2021 10% overpayment: £1,000 of approx £12,000 saved
    £114.50 "extra" savings
    £624 holiday funds
