Issue of UKCPS Parking Charge Notice

Hi all,
I know that this post has been made (at least) a few times over the years but i'm very new to this type of issue and i want to perhaps get some feedback on my specific situation, as well as some well informed insights into how i should approach this situation i find myself in, so i thank you all in advance for your help guys.
To give a little context, myself and my other half had a table booked at a popular leisure complex in the south west, we had a table booked for 18:30, at a restaurant on the site, and cinema booked afterwards.
vehicle entered (name of retail park) which was extremely busy, and parked next to some vehicles in the overflow section, against the kerb by some other vehicles, at the time of visiting it was dark and there were no lit signs, or signs visible.
After 2 days, I, as the registered keeper received a parking charge notice from (name of car parking company)
I was a little shocked to be honest as it seems that the over zealous attendants on site were out taking snaps of my (and presumably many other) car within 10 minutes of us rushing to the restaurant to make our booked time.
I'm slightly annoyed about the charge as it was pitch black and i couldn't see anywhere that stated to park in marked bays only (although i'm sure there must be signage somewhere).
I've appealed the charge, which i don't hold much hope for to be honest, but i was hoping someone could advise me on the way forward with this as i feel a £100 charge, reduced to £60 within 14 days is ludicrous and slightly unfair seeing as i wasn't blocking any vehicles, but was rather trying to make our table that was booked and i even moved the car an hour later to a marked bay etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, please also bear in mind when using terminology, as i will likely not have a clue when it comes to abbreviations haha.
Thank you all for your help!

You should never give any clues as to who was/could have been driving.
your long story needs cutting back,....

Hi,
Thank you for your reply - the information i gave in my post was for you guys, not what i wrote in my appeal to them.
I think they asked for my name in order to complete the appeal, which i believe insinuated that i was the driver before i could even appeal to them.
I'm expecting them to reply stating they will uphold the parking charge, but i'm just a little annoyed to have received it in the first place and wondering whether i have any chance to get this quashed really?
Thank you again.0 -
Complain to the leisure complex.0

It doesnt matter
"you guys" includes the PPCs. this is a public forum, and the PPCs monitor it. So as instructed, EDIT YOUR POST.
They ask for a name, obviously, but that can easily be the vehicles keeper appealing. Thats what the newbies thread is pretty clear on..0 -
Thanks you for the advice - i'm not sure if my post should've been posted elsewhere so apologies if this is the case. I've edited the post slightly to reflect your comments.0

I'll give it a go complaining to the complex, but i don't hold out much hope to be honest. I'm just wondering if there is any defence i can present to them as it's not like i just dumped the vehicle etc.0
-
It appears that the complex are telling me to refer to the guys that manage the car park for all parking related enquiries - i thought that a charge of £100 would be unenforceable? Either way, i'm not happy to pay a charge for simply trying to park to use the complex's facilities - especially considering there were a lot of vehicles doing exactly the same thing.
I'm at a loss as to how to move forward upon expected refusal of my appeal, so any insights into next steps would be appreciated.0 -
Do that first.
Yes of course there is a defence, but Im guessing you posted WITHOUT reading the newbies thread? If you havent read it - and unless youre on a tablet or Pc it might not show up - then go there and read it. Now. THEN ask questions, ONCE you have fully understood it.
Parking Eye v Beavis and NUMEROUS lost court claims since shows that a charge of £100 CAN BE ENFORCEABLE - but it doesnt mean it is here.
As I said, and as is hopefully obvious, you cannot stick just in htis thread, this is a forum. Use it. It has sticky threads you are insructed to read, and has a ferw THOUSAND threads to read to understand the scam you are in.0 -
Thanks all - i'm on tablet so i could not see the Newbie thread, i'll have a look later and see what my options are. It just seems crazy that in 2020 we're still seeing such dubious and unregulated actions like this from unscrupulous companies such as theirs.
Thank you for all your help and apologies for not following the correct procedures with regards to posting etc, my bad.0
