I took delivery today of a Panasonic SC-HTB700EBK soundbar. Its suitable for 4k TV with dolby atmos sound (of a sort, I realise for true Dolby you need 20 speakers). I have an LG OLED55C7V tv. It has an ARC HDMI socket as does the soundbar.

However, I am not sure the soundbar is powering up. I phoned Panasonic to request help and they seemed certain the soundbar should be saying something in a 'display' area. It wasn't. The subwoofer was definitely powering up, I saw it light up. Nothing on the soundbar even when I swopped the subwoofer and soundbar power cables (and plug sockets).

I changed the sound settings on my LG TV to HDMI ARC. The TV just keeps saying no signal to the HDMI 2 (ARC port). The TV input is saying the active input is HDMI2 (the ARC port) but under connected device it is saying 'no information'.

I am not an engineer or electrician so I don't know what I am doing or what to check, frustratingly I don't really understand the technology in my TV. Panasonic weren't a great deal of help. They said it looks like there is a power problem within the soundbar and to send it back to Amaxon. But I am not sure if I am missing something or if there is something wrong with the soundbar.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or suggestions as to how I find someone who could help?

you plugged the tv HDMI2 in to AV IN on the soundbar?

Turned the sound bar on, on the switch on the end?

Might find it can pair up wirelessly

I plugged the HDMI into the arc port on the soundbar and the arc port on the TV. No button on end, there is a power supply thing in the middle that is what you press for five seconds to get power, so the manual and panasonic support said. The first couple of seconds of this video (which is in german so no idea what it says) shows you what I mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik5Jh-xKOtI

It can pair up with the subwoofer wirelessly but not the TV, well not unless I can get the darned Soundbar to turn on, I don't know if it can connect wirelessly to the TV but the manual doesn't indicate it can.

If everything was going as the manual says, I should be seeing things in the display part of the soundbar, and next step is to select input. But more than that I can't explain.

Maybe some courier decided to drop it although box is in perfect condition.

If your TV and soundbar have optical connections, try using them instead of HDMI. All you then need to do is select the speaker output on your TV.
My Philips soundbar is connected to my LG TV this way, and it works fine. I'm using the ARC HDMI input to connect my sky box.

Use an optical lead as above.

You need to choose optical out in the sound settings on the LG TV

Unplug the soundbar and leave for at least 3 minutes then plug in and switch on with the switch/button. Wait, as it may take a while to kick in.....If this fails to power it, send it back and have it replaced. Or, maybe buy an LG soundbar......;)

An after thought........Have you tried different HDMI cables?

Thank you rumrat. I have tried to turn it on (waiting five seconds pressing the 'button' as manual says) yet to see any sign in the display its actually powered up which the Panasonic support person said would be noticeable. As you suggest, I need to concentrate on getting the soundbar to power up first. I have looked at LG soundbars but they don't seem as good as this one, well, when it can be powered up.

Looks like it will have to go back to Amazon.

Won't be buying another one. Seems like a lot of smart technology, its not very reliable yet. Its a shame cause I can't always hear the TV (have slight hearing problems) and would have really appreciated better sound when watching movies. The TV viewing, being an OLED tv is brilliant even though its a couple of years old, but as with most of these super slim TVs the sound isn't overly good. Soft sounds (speaking) just disappear. I like Sci fi stuff so would be nice to have dolby type sound. Its just the technology is not what I am used to so its difficult to troubleshoot. Watched a few vids, read a few articles, understand it better but nothing to trouble shoot this particular soundbar or anything like it, just general more dated articles.

Because the TV has a HDMI ARC port, it should be able to do Dolby sound.

You may just have a duff one......Get an exchange and then if the new one doesn't work just send that back.
