Hi all my partner was in a car accident on Xmas eve another car hit her, from the damage and eye witness my partner was non fault the insurance agreed.
They have valued her car at £3000 I had to replace 2 car seats at a cost of £119.
Today we have received a cheque for £2496
Im not happy with this.
What can I do, they are taking away the hire car on Wednesday and we need a car for children school run and hospital appointments.
It's stressing me out.
Thanks in advance

Who agreed to £2496 before they sent the cheque?0 -
They do that sometimes...if you cash the cheque your accepting the offer phone them and refuse offer, you need to start finding prices for similar cars on auto trader and showing them to insurance company. At the end of the day you had a perfect car in mint condition with low mileage and full service history......so you want the same replacement.Get on the phone and tell them you need hire car longer until you can find replacement car0

Nobody that's just a random sum they have pulled out of the hat0 -
Surely there was a letter with the cheque detailing how the figure was calculated (car value, value of other items covered if any, less an excess if any, less any proportionality or additional premium due to misdeclaration at proposal if any).
Bank it anyway - better in your account than theirs.0 -
Are you claiming directly from the other insurer or are you claiming off your own policy0
-
Who is "they" - your own insurer, the other driver's insurer, or someone else?
What is the excess on your policy?
Have they made a deduction for the scrap value of your car?0 -
if you cash the cheque your accepting the offer
Common misconception I'm afraid.0 -

OP .....don't bank it by doing so you are accepting the offer of £24960 -
