Solicitor Initial Cost

Hello, first time posting in the forum here.
im currently buying a house and have found a converyancing solicitor, but they say that before they proceed they would need a payment of £300 to cover initial costs and disbursements. Is this a standard thing to happen? and if so, is that included as part of the original quotation or is it an additional charge they haven't stated on the quotation?
Any help is appreciated.

Yes it is standrad and yes it will be part of the original quote so taken into account when you receive your 'Completion Statement'.0

Yes, its normal. They will have money to pay out to progress your sale. It's to make sure they are not out of pocket.0

It's to cover the cost of the searches and is standard requirement with conveyancing. It just means you have £300 less to pay when it's time to hand over the deposit, remaining legal fees and and stamp duty.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
