Connect your console to your router without a wire?

Potato, potato again? And obviously that uses a wire techincally. (You do need wires for your electric!)
Given that the OP doesn't know the "difference" between Wifi and "Wireless LAN", I think giving both of the common names for the technology is reasonable.
Also, I'm going to guess that the problem the OP has with a wired connection is the thought of running an ethernet cable from the router (quite probably in a different room), not the wire itself. Given that the console has to be wired in for electricity it will have to be near an electrical socket, so would also be appropriately situated for a powerline LAN adaptor.1 -
Powerline LAN adaptors aren't great for gaming, but better old wifi thats for sure. Best result would be wireless-AC router and usb adapter for the xbox. (both need to be 'wireless-AC' aka WiFi 5)0

I know most of you will say wireless wifi but online game will not be as good. So I'm looking for something like wireless LAN. Hope that make sense because I don't know what they're called!
you still need cable to connect console to power line and router to powerline, your home ring mains will connect the two power lines together.
bit expensive though I paid £60 for a 150mbs and the 500mbs cost over 100. They never give you rated speeds though and might not work if you have old wiring (Red black green iirc) I heard switching on white goods can cause issues if you have the new colour wiring (brown blue yello/green) your good to go

I have now routed Ethernet and now get 9MB/s and the power plugs are being used to connect virgin box to my network.
so depending on your wiring they are not that bad they have their place and as with WiFi you don’t get the full speed of your connection

You can get faster power line adapter I’ve seen 1500Mbps when I got my 500Mbps.
mute point WiFi, power line and Ethernet all have it’s place. For me I get faster speeds with powerline then WiFi.
From what I gather WiFi it’s not about getting a decent router there are many standards and each standard has a max range, Speed etc. and then you have issues with too many devices on WiFi network0 -

The claimed speeds on powerline adapters are nowhere near achievable in the real world and even ones that claim to be 2000 Mbps are not very fast at all in the real world. So they should always be considered a last resort.0
