We had to get a headed paper verification for the lads to receive a bequest & a local accountant did the job pro bono.

Accountants (especially the modest not-over-10 practices) can be superbly helpful. (The heaving great firms rather less so.)

    Best of luck!
  • "Elected public representative" would be a local councillor?
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • Incidentally, what is a Peace Commissioner ?

To quote you from another thread from only a couple of days ago:
Isn't Google a great friend to have ?

Touche - hoisted by my own petard !!!

Too lazy to trawl around - must learn to practice what I preach !!!

That aside, since a Peace Commissioner is an honorary appointment within the Republic of Ireland, said official is hardly likely to be convenient for a UK mainland resident to approach.

To be sure, to be sure !!!

This is what you do and is what I done a few years ago when renewing my Irish passport and will be doing again in 2 years time.

Find a solictor that is also a Commissioner for Oaths. Make an appointment, bring along all your documents including something like a bank statement, utility bill, any existing photo ID that you have. They will likely make copies, charge a small fee and that will be that. Really painless and efficient use of your time.
  • In Scotland, a Justice of the Peace has powers to confirm ID in certain circumstances by countersigning relevant documentation - at no cost.

Not sure if they'd be available working hours for incoming 'phone calls though - or if this service is UK wide.
