Vehicle Incorrectly Registered

Hey all,
I’m looking at buying a VW Transporter and upon checking the mot register I’ve noticed that it has been registered as a petrol engine Caravelle and not a diesel van.
I’ve asked the owner and he said that he’s in the process of having to reregistered with the DVLA with the help of the original owner as he didn’t notice when he brought it. He’s said the owner and dealership are providing paperwork to confirm it was registered wrong.
How common is this? Does it sounds plausible? The vehicle is 3 hours drive so I want to make sure it’s worth a trip before I go all that way to see it.
Thanks

I don't suppose it matters as long as the engine and chassis numbers match the log book - can you get him to confirm that they do - and send you photos before you travel. Even if he does, check them yourself when you see it.0

How old is it?
I would be looking elsewhere just in case things don't add up.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I bought a new Harley Davidson in 2008. When the V5 arrived it was a diesel!
I just sent it back with a covering letter and it was put right.
However, wouldn't it be better if the V5 has it as a petrol caravelle? Then you could do 70 on a dual carriageway, and drive it in the ULEZSpeeding tickets and ULEZ charges are based on the registration details, not what it looks like.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

OP - Caravelle is just windows-and-seats version of a Transporter, so it's easy to see how it could have happened. Is it a UK-from-new van? Which shape of Transporter?0 -
Thanks for the replies..
It’s a 2015 T5.1 the colour matches and first date of registration just not the rest of the details..Marrying the man of my dreams30th November 2012 :jLittle Stig due22nd February 20122012 is going to be an awesome year!!!0 -
Is it a WV1 (van) or WV2 (Caravelle) VIN?0
