Large travel insurance costs!

Looking for travel insurance to cover our family holiday in April. 4 of us going to Antigua. 2 adults, 2 kids. No pre-exsisting anything. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Im pretty sure I'm doing the right thing by going via topcashback and scouring comparison sites but the prices are vast! For a 4 star defaqto (the minimum I am happy with) and £4000 cancelation cover I am being quoted £90+! for 10 days away. Seems very high to me.
Am I better buying an annual policy? (We wont be going away as a family again this year) What is best with a family of 4?

I thought £90 was a decent price for family to Antigua. I'm sure it is just a small fraction of the cost of the holiday.0

Fair enough, seemed high to me. I can't think I have ever paid more than £30 before. And always gone for 4star+ Defaqto.
If it's not bad then I'll just get it. The policy seems good. no excess on anything and £5000 cancelation, £3000 baggage. £10M medical.0 -
Is a yearly policy less than £90? If not and your not going away again then whats the point in a yearly one?
Unless you go away next year before it expires? Squeeze 2 holidays into a single yearly policy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yearly was about £120 for equivilent. 90% sure we arent going away again.
I got the £85 policy. peace of mind. 5 star defaqto.0 -
For future reference/use - Nationwide FlexPlus account comes with a 5* defaqto rating Worldwide family travel insurance, whole family mobile phone insurance (including breakdown) and a European car breakdown cover for £13/m (£156/y). Fantastic value for money if you need any 2 of the 3, complete no-brainer if oyu need all 3.0

We have this and as with every kind of insurance, you never know how good they are until you have to claim.
We had to claim when my husband had an emergency detached retina operation three weeks before we were due to fly to Nice for a villa holiday and so he could not fly.
They were brilliant. Offered either a full refund or ( as we were going to France) to pay for Eurostar and associated costs (hotel pre/post travel) we took the train and were fully reimbursed.
Definitely worth having the account.0
