O/S Daily Thursday 16 January 2020

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 still in his pit.

Still dark and air feels chilly.

Dinner last night was chicken with rice and mushrooms. Tonight is a quick easy dinner of pie, chips with beans/mushy peas.

I have the normal "to do" list so will need to crack on with getting stuff done. So will be heading into town this morning to visit the bank and building society.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It feels rather chilly here too this morning.

Very late to bed after last night's Panto. I couldn't switch off and felt too wide awake to get to sleep. Anyhow, Panto was enjoyed by all and just as much fun as first time we saw it before Xmas. It's still a sell out every night but the Alhambra pantos are always so popular and it's such a beautiful old theatre.

It's Aldi this morning, the first time since before Xmas. I still have plenty in the freezers but in need of f & v and stocks of boring household stuff are going down. DW tabs, bleach LL milk etc. (Remind me not to buy any more cat toys whilst out and about!)

The DGDs are here for tea and sleepover so the usual Bolognese Bake will be on the go shortly. I do wish they would tire of it but when I suggest something different I get a unanimous NO! Middle DGD says if she could only eat one thing for the rest of her life it would be my B Bake!

DD picking me up on route to school so better get myself moving. ((HUGS)) for all in need and have a good day if you can. Take care all xx

Still cold, wet and dark but the wind seems to have died down thank goodness. I've had to sleep with the bedroom window closed as it has been so noisy.

Nice early finish from training yesterday so nipped into Dunelm for sewing supplies then home to warm the house up, it was so cold in here I could see my breath! Made a gift bag for a colleague's 30th tomorrow, feels strange to be organised for a change.

DS1 may be staying tonight, depends what time he gets his car back from the MOT, it may not be worth him going all the way home. Will think about dinner later, there's plenty in.

Hugs to those in need, take care. XX

    Hello all

Still dark here. Roll on summer!

DH scan yesterday went very smoothly. On time, and very quick. Nothing 'sinister' (their wording), so back to GP Monday for an overall view. He's a new, young GP and determined to sort it all out. So grateful for such a wonderful service.

And in other good news, the antibiotics seem to be working on my tooth abscess. Hopefully no extraction needed.

Meeting a good friend for coffee and cake this morning, and then must do some housework. I've been cleaning the oven since Christmas and still not got round to it! Definitely not my favourite job.

    Happy Thursday everyone

    Morning all

Damp and cold here with more rain due later I think, im running very late so will make this short and sweet.

Washing in the wm and dw on dd will deal with both later.

Hope you are all well, have good days all xx
  • Good morning, it seems to be dry here. Yesterday was fine and sunny but cold.

Glad your DH's scan showed nothing nasty Happycas, and your abscess is healing, so painful isn't it.
TA the panto sounds wonderful, you must be so proud! Your bolognese bake, do you cook the pasta in the sauce in the oven?

Did a bit more drawer tidying yesterday, after we'd been to the hairdressers. I've got a chazzer bag building up nicely.

Going to the Metro Centre today, I need a couple of things from La*eland and there's a big branch there, and I'll have a general look round while I'm there.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday,
    Take care folks
  • Good morning, dull here and cold, the heating has just come on though.

I have just read back as didn't get here yesterday and Nelski congratulations!

TA only one day to Sparkleday, woohoo!

I have had one robin on my bird table, many visits from squirrels who can just fit in, one at a time, they all have to take turns. The table has a peanut feeder too so yesterday I bought nuts and filled that and am waiting to see if the birds will come for those. I've hung some fat balls in one of the trees, last time I did that it took a while for the fat feeder to be discovered, just as it is for the bird table but I shall persevere.

Lots to do today and I hope that everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning

Thank you all again for your wishes yesterday you are all the best at cheerleading

Not a bad day with mum. I did have a bit of a go at her which I feel kinda bad about but it still stands....her shopping list for this week was as follows:

    9 kit kats
    block of dairy milk
    2 lemon cheescakes
7 mini bottles of red wine
    milk
    4 bread rolls
    butter
2 family packs of murray mints
    3 ghastly fruit trifles
    6 lemon yoghurts
    Tub of ice cream

I despair......no savoury meals, no fruit, no veg just mostly sugar. Thank god I took the soup but who knows if she bins it for a few murray mints. Anyway I did have a go and yes I know shes 89 and an adult who can eat what she likes but give me strength thats ridiculous.

Anyway I took her to the pub for lunch and she had a breakfast ....not ideal but at least savoury

Call with my new client (:j) went well and they are already discussing possible work for the year very exciting but lots of work to do now to get it spot on.

Todays freezer food will be one of my chicken pasties so Ill have that with peas later and some soup for lunch.

Have a great day all ....you rock :)
  • Good morning all x
Well docs visit didn't go as planned. Instead of the steroid injection in my elbow he decided that physio and strong painkillers were the best start. Well the painkillers are strong I was out like a light at 9.30 and for once I didn't wake up in pain. Physio called me and have arranged a telephone appointment for next Tuesday. I have never known a system work so quick.
So I have to take more of the magic pills this morning but I am putting it off as I'm the only one home and I don't want to chance having an accident.
Anyhoo whilst I am awake lol I will try and get some bits done. Need to freezer dive for dinner.
Hugs to all in need x
    Bright Blessings xx

    Morning all,
DGS dropped off at school by DH this morning as he's working that way so I didnt go, he went quite happily :)
Glad the results were ok HappyC, & LWW glad the painkillers gave you a decent sleep.
I'm meeting a friend later to do some shopping at the retail park. Yesterday I went to collect my new reading glasses from town and called and got a meal deal too so we had roast chicken with wedges last night & I gave DH the bottle to replenish his wine rack , stock seems to have gone down a bit after xmas day.

AOD ,we tend to have the smaller birds at our feeder, the bluetits have been this morning, but I have seen a bigger bird balancing precariously on a spindly potted shrub eating the red berries :)
Right I'm off to tidy upstairs after my sewing yesterday. Hope your day is a good one :)
