Digital cameras around £80-£120

I am buying someone a present and I was wondering if anyone could give their view on the ones I'm looking at as possibles.

The camera will be for a person in their 50's who hasn't had a camera before. They own a non-digital SLR and this camera is really to compliment that, rather than replace it. I wanted to spend around £80 to £120 and it seems that 7mp cameras are what I am looking at around this price level.

Casio EX-Z75 - around £80

Casio EX-Z1050 - around £100

Canon Ixus 70 - around £115

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 - around £100

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 - around £90

I am wondering whether a viewfinder will be a good idea as the person is older and might not be used to taking pics through the LCD screen. If I have to buy one like that then I guess the Casio's are out of the running.

All cameras seem to have favourable reviews but appreciate if anyone could comment on any/all of these and give me some guidance. Otherwise, some other recommendations would be great

If you decide on the the Canon Ixus 70 then purchase through Amazon. They currently have an offer that includes a free case with this camera but there is a glitch whereby the the price of the camera case is deducted twice. Only works with the Ixus 70. Thanks to purplepatch who originally posted this info.

I have a Canon A700 and always use the viewfinder except for macro shots. I find it easier to keep the camera steady when wedged against my nose

Thanks for this great tip Miss Scarlett (and obviously thanks to purplepatch as well for the original info). Ordered just now and I am so glad as the Ixus 70 was at the top of my budget and now this has brought it down and with a case as well.

I have a DSC W50 and find it a Superb Camera & i've just yesterday Ordered a W35 for my mother in law as like you say it comes with a separate viewfinder but i see you've gone for the Ixus so good luck with that :cool:
