neighbours builder has knocked a hole through wall between me and next door

Thanks all for the replies. Davesnave you are right it was converted or rather butchered in the bad old 80s. Mistral001 you are also right it is not the whole wall, part of it is solid, and in fact there was a stud wall and the plasterboard had been taken off on the neighbours' side as part of their renovations.
I'm grateful to you all for pointing out the fire proofing issue. They have told me they are going to build a stud wall in front which will be soundproofed. Is the fire proofing down to the materials used or is it constructed differently?0 -
It's possible to get fire rated plasterboard without too much of a problem, or to use a cement based board, but there may be more to it than that,such as using intumescent sealers. I'm afraid I'm not up on modern building and fire regs.
I would want to be sure the matter of fire safety had been properly considered, even if this is a replacement of something inferior that was there previously. The new wall will not be 'historic' and ought to be compliant with today's regs.
You can always contact the Building Control Dept at your local council for advice. You don't need to ID the property in the first instance.0
