Curve Questions

So the recent announcement from Tandem (that they will start charging to have an account) has had me looking at alternatives. I doubt I'm alone...

I'm looking at the Curve card and am a little unsure about cashback. My Tandem card gave me 0.5% on purchases. If I get another credit card that gives cashback and link it to a Curve account, will I still get cashback through that credit card? And also Curve cashback (for selected retailers)?

I still have an American Express cashback card that I've not used in a while, is Amex still off limits for Curve?

Lastly, I get that there are limits to spending and cash withdrawls abroad, are there also limits with UK spending/withdrawals?

Thanks!

You will get double cashback (only for 90 days of course) and no Amex still doesn't work with curve

I use the curve card with my 0.5% cashback Barclaycard and continue to get my Barclaycard cashback as well as 90 days worth of 1% Curve card cashback at my selected retailers

the same thing is true of my John Lewis partnership credit card I continue to get the points on that at when I use it via Curve

By the way I know it is totally over the top but because Curve is a flat card rather than an embossed card it is very easy to scratch off all the numbers so that it becomes a completely blank card so that if you lose it there is absolutely nothing for the finder to see on it it thus protecting the underlying cards it is linked to

I have also made it non- contactless

Wouldn't it be less effort to just freeze it if you lose it?

Do you think the number is held on the magnetic strip?

Not if someone's gone on a spree before you realise you can't find it !

Yes as I said it is a bit over the top but the problem is that if you carry your actual debit card around it can be used for all sorts of nefarious reasons including resetting your 'forgotten' internet banking credentials. IMHO a normal debit card is too dangerous to carry around!

Hence a blank curve card. I guess as above it could still be used with mag stripe and signature.

I don't have my Curve card with me, but I'm pretty sure the card number is engraved on the back of the card, and would be un-rub-offable without using a grinder of some description. Maybe they have changed the manufacturing process.

It is on the back, as are the CVV, exp date, cardholder name, I easily scratched them off using a flat Stanley knife blade - no angle grinder needed!

Made it non-contactless (as with all cards) by cutting a small 'V' in the short end opposite the chip.

Why not just chop the card up then if you're not planning on using it?
