Octopus Energy Promised Price Cuts ?

To be fair, their new prices arrived the following day by email.

I am a Coop 'refugee' previously on and transferred to the Octopus 'Green Pioneer' tariff.

I calculate that:

Electricity unit price is reduced by 14.38%
Electricity Standing Charge price is reduced by 18.55%

Gas unit price is reduced by 7.73%
Gas Standing Charge price is reduced by 36.48%

Not outstanding but in the right direction.

Going by this cost example from 12 Months ago, Green Pioneer Tariff sky high prices sounds like Octopus brought it more in line with its own prices which is good, beggars belief those that were on it did not switch of their own accord.

Co-op users were informed that their accounts would be 'locked' for a period of time during the transfer and it would not be possible to 'switch' during this period !

How nice for Octopus to be able to acquire the top rate paying Co-op customers.

I hung on in the fear that the transfer from the Coop to Octopus would be 'messy' as I had previously endured the Coop IT systems fiasco.

To be frank, so far I am quite impressed by Octopus . My switch went perfectly and I am impressed by their email customer service response.

My new rates on the Octopus 'Green Pioneer' tariff are:

Elec - 17.75p/kWh and 21.8p/day inc VAT

Gas - 3.51/kWh and 16.8p/day inc VAT

Not the best but !!!
