Connecting phone to car and google maps

I'll try and give as much detail as possible but this has me stumped.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, I frequently use Google Maps for directions on it and love this but, when I am in my car and my phone is connected via bluetooth to it (Hyundai i10) I can make and receive calls via the car's hands-free but Google Maps will not give me spoken directions. If I want spoken directions I have to switch off the phone's bluetooth which means I then can't take calls or make them via hands free.
Anyone have any ideas please?

One of the multitude of sound settings...but which one... try...
google maps -> settings -> navigation settings. what's voice over bluetooth?0 -
as above but turn on MEDIA button on car. (not RADIO)
I have a Hyundai and it works perfectly0 -
As grumpy says check that the phone is set for voice over BT in the Navigation settings.
While you are there, you can turn off directions during phone calls if you want.....Nothing more annoying for me...Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I take it that you're using the phone in a cradle, rather than connected via USB and using Android Auto in the car's Infotainment system?
The suggestion in post #2 (possibly also #3) should see you right.0 -
Well, it kind of worked, I managed to get Google maps to voice directions via my speakers but couldn't listen to radio at same time so it was a little boring lol. To get it to work I had to select media on the car radio which means no am/fm radio. I could've played music from phone but I don't have any. It's very odd and frustrating.
Phone stays in my handbag, no lead involved.0 -

If I need to use google maps I cant listen to DAB/FM so I put a podcast/music on over bluetooth.0 -
