So last Aug was ending a fixed tariff with them and the new online fix was one of the cheapest so switched to that.
At that point it was SUPPOSED TO BE CHEAPER, but despite that they want to increase my DD by £20 over what I was paying last year. They increased the DD before I switched and didn't bother reducing it, now they want to increase it again! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE CHEAPER NOT DEARER!:mad::mad:
My usage has been pretty constant over the past 4 years, and they already have over a years bills to compare so these rises are just NOT ON!

So fed up and just looking at moving to Peoples energy, OK I will have to pay the exit fees but at least I will SAVE nearly £30/MONTH with them.

And what are your unit rates and standing charges, please? That way, if you like, we can work out what your energy usage should cost unless you have done this already.

I KNOW how fixed dd's work, what I dislike is EON's way of using them! (READ WHAT I WROTE, not what you think you read!)
FIXED DD = cost over year/12. not (cost over winter *4)/12 which is what they seem to want.

I have an annual usage figure that hasn't really changed in the past 4 YEARS, using that figure, and the QUOTED rates, I should be paying <£88/mo. They now want £103/mo nearly 1/5 of my income. Why when I haven't changed my usage over the past 16 months with them do they want MORE money? They tried this last winter when I had just joined (Sept) and I was in arrears, really well it is WINTER and I am using GAS, during the SUMMER I don't.
My annual quote was about £1050/year for the new tariff, so that should be £88/mo not £103/mo.

I am with the energy club and they said time to move and I agree this time, totally fed up paying too much to EON!

Have you been giving them monthly meter readings? Have you asked them to reduce your direct debit?

    Good morning kenr,

I'm sorry to see that you're so unhappy.

We base payments on past usage and current prices as these are the only things we're sure about at the time of a review. We look to spread payments as evenly as possible over a full 12 months. This can sometimes mean accounts being in credit/debit at various times during the arrangement. The aim is to try to achieve as near as possible to a zero balance by the time of the next annual review.

Is the account currently in debt? If so this will be included in the monthly amount, so it will include paying for your usage and an amount towards the balance. Is the account billed to accurate reads?

To make sure accounts are on track, we look at arrangements every 3 months. We only make changes, though, at the mid-point and annual reviews. At the other times, we let customers know if we think there should be a change but leave it up to them to make any alterations.

Do you know you can take more control over the payment arrangement through the Direct Debit Manager on our website? Provided you've registered with our website, you can use this tool to change the monthly payments to better suit different circumstances. If the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we think the account will be in credit/debit by the annual review.

Please do speak to us if you need to.

    Thank you

    Helena

Sorry for delay in getting back, had a fubar on my account and got locked out.
    my energy details are:
Gas usage 10634 Elec usage 4376
supplier daily Gas rate Gas Unit rate Daily Elec rate Ecec Unit rate total gas total elec monthly total
    Eon 20.48 2.89 20.48 15.06 £382.07 £713.99 £91.34 £1,096.07
    Peoples 22.26 2.24 22.60 12.70 £319.45 £602.11 £76.80 £921.56
This is from a spread sheet I created to do the calculations.

I have had 2 emails from Eon, one saying tough the dd is staying at £103 and after I replied saying I was leaving a further one saying it was dropping to £88.
Sorry to little to late Eon!
Move to Peoples Network on the way just sent the initial meter readings today.
