Incorrect CCJ

Options
Advice please

It has only recently come to light that a couple of years ago I was given a parking ticket (not disputed) but all correspondence relating to the ticket was sent to an incorrect address.

I live at number 2A but it transpires that the DVLA had incorrectly recorded my address as number 20. There is no number 20 in our road.

I received a letter from the County Court last month addressed to me at number 20 which was only delivered to me as our new postman realised that it was for me even though the address was incorrect. This was the first letter received relating to this matter.

The letter stated that there was an £80 fine to pay plus costs of £110 but if I disputed this I could state my case either by letter or online. I sent an on line message explaining what had happened and confirming that I was prepared to pay the fine but not the costs as I had not received any prior correspondence.

The response that I received from the Court (by post but still incorrectly addressed!) stated that I still had to pay the £80 plus £110 and that a judgement would be registered but could be removed if a request was made in writing within one month.

I phoned the court today to ask if I could appeal and was told that the only way of doing so was to lodge an N244 form and pay a further £210!

I am concerned that if a CCJ is registered I may not be able to get it removed and that its going to cost £210 to make the request.

So, my questions are:
Is there another way of appealing / complaining?
If I do lodge the N244 how likely is it that the CCJ will be removed?
Can a CCJ be registered against an address that doesn't exist and if it can, will it be linked to me as they have my correct name, date of birth and post code. It's only the number of the house that is incorrect.

Thanks for your help.

It will be money well spent to get this CCJ removed, as it will be with you for 6 years and may affect you in the future when you apply for credit.

CCJ will be registered to your name so doesnt matter where you live.

Does your address on your V5C say?
