Pet insurance claim just before renewal

Options
Hi there,

Our pet insurance cover for our dog is up for renewal end of Jan '20 and we may have to make a claim before then to meet potential costs for an eye operation.

I'm concerned that upon renewal or switch for a cheaper insurer, that they may try to class it as a pre-existing condition?

Could anybody please advise / help me understand ahead of trying to sort this?

Kind regards,

Matthew

I t depends on what policy you have,

If it is a lifelong policy then cover will continue as long as you continue to pay the premium.

If it is a 12month policy then then you will only be covered for 12months from diagnosis.

If it is limited by cost then it will depend on how much you claim.

If you change to another company then it will be considered a pre existing condition.
