Incorrect Questions When Checking Score

Options
Hi all,

Not sure if this has happened to anybody else but I was advised to check out my credit score earlier with ClearScore so I went through joining the site and checking off all the questions as to be expected but had a few issues...

Some of the questions such as "...records indicate you opened a bank account in 2006, who with?" were fine but there were some which were completely wrong.

Questions like "... records indicate you opened a mortgage account in 2011, who with?" and "...records indicate you opened a hire purchase account in 2014, who with?"

I've NEVER had either of those things! Is this a problem? A security question? Or actually a security issue? If a security issue, who do I contact? ClearScore obviously don't manage credit scores themselves, just provide a view of them so I'm a bit lost.

I've never had any credit before basically so this is my first experience with it and it's not started great.

  • Try to get your Statutory report direct from Equifax. Then you can use the data held in your Equifax file to open a ClearScore account...

Oh and who asked you to check your credit score? They are of no use to anybody?

One of the options was "none of the above" but no options indicated that the question was invalid and untrue.

As I'm looking to purchase a first property in 2020 at some point, a family member is constantly on my back about it.

Again, some of the questions there are also unfortunately incorrect about my history.

Some of my previous addresses are also not standardised so I can't input them accurately.

If the answer is none of the above then that's what you should put. The point being only you should know the correct answer.

Your family member is wrong although they may have meant your credit history rather than score. Clearscore and the other CRA's will give you a 'score' but it is pretty meaningless. No lender will ever see that score and will score you based on their own criteria and your credit history.

Okay then. In that case, try to access your Statutory report direct from TransUnion. They allow you to manually input your addresses. With a bit of luck, the questions they ask will be answerable. So hopefully you will be able to gain access to your file that way.

Not sure there is any need for that. It seems to me that OP is just reluctant to put 'none of the above' when that is what they should put. There are no incorrect questions.....just incorrect answers. There are no trick questions.
