I thought it was going to be so simple.

I am with Npower on the old Super tariff using a single meter with 2 Mpans and four readings. there a two pairs of meter tails, one pair for the 24hr fusebox and one pair for the storage heater fuse box.

The 24 hrs side has a fixed tariff with E7 of 16.7p and 8.5p. The heating side tariff is 15.2p for the storage heaters which can't be altered.

All I want to do is change the Super Tariff meter for an ordinary e7 meter so I can use the storage heaters on the cheaper 8.5p rate.

Major problem, after speaking to various departments I have been told I have to disconnect the heating module????? before the meter can be changed as I already have an E7 meter. Couldn't get an answer as to why the meter tail couldn't be swapped over to an E7 two reading meter.

With a struggle I managed to get them to book an engineers appointment to come out. I only hope he will understand what I want to do.

Is it actually that difficult?

So you have got a normal E7 meter with one set of tails, the off peak only output not connected, and another meter for the heating only ? It then shouldn't be a problem for their engineer to connect the heating tails to the vacant off peak only connection on the existing meter as long as the existing tails are long enough. The big problem is that the phone cs don't have a clue what your set up is, hopefully the engineer can sort it in one visit and with even more luck the supplier can remove the additional meter from your account.

No that is the problem I just have one meter with 2 sets of tails connected but in the meter there are 2 separate Mpans.

The setup you describe is what I want.

Just to add I am pretty sure one pair of tails is set to the first Mpan and the storage heater pair set to the second Mpan, On the bill I have two cost calculations for the same meter number.

All sorted. Meter man appeared on time , "what's all the fuss about, just a straight foward meter change".
    Ten minutes all done.
