RBS PPI Claim Lombard Loan

Hi there,,Recieved a letter from RBS PPI Team today stating they are unable to investigate my complaint due to the fact that the PPI Policy was not sold by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group...Further stating that from the info I provided they believe Lloyds Bank (inc TSB) is responsible.I gave tghem the Lombard original Loan agreement Number .
The Loan was taken out in 1998 from Lombard and I have documents to prove this ..So what does Lloyds (TSB) have to do with it...Can anyone confirm if Lombard was involved with Lloyd TSB during this period of time...They say if I have info suggesting it was sold (PPI Policy) by RBS please re submit your request and it will be reviewed..Anyone else heard of this type of response.
Thanks in advance.

I dont believe Lloyds do. However, Lloyds bank did own some distribution companies that could retail loans/mortgages of other lenders and it is the firm that sold the loan that matters. Not the company that provided the loan (unless the seller and lender were the same company).

RBS only deals with Lombard Direct.
Which Lombard are you referring to and did Lombard actually sell you the loan or did a third party (such as retailer, car dealer etc).0 -
Just phoned RBS in Manchester..They could not explain why Lloyds TSB was signposted to me..Just asked if I could send in proof of taking out loan...Very odd indeed..Fobbing off tactics I think...0

Doesn't sound like fobbing off at all. You have effectively gone to Asda (or wherever) to complain about something you bought as Tesco (or wherever).
RBS have told you that they cannot see that you bought anything via them. Which would be correct if you didn't.0 -
(You just need to be clear who your finance was with and who (mis) sold you the insurance.) I am 100% clear about who sold me the finance...It was Lombard direct ..I retain all original copies of the agreement. And nothing to do with cars or car purchase.0

.It was sold to me from Lombard direct from an Office in Chester which no longer exists,,,No car Loan..Home improvements. Cheers.0 -
OP if you have any the original loan paperwork this should be quite simple to answer... just confirm what entity of Lombard is on your agreement. Also may be worth checking that the agreement shows that you had PPI as part of your loan, this would be detailed separately to your loan... if it is not then there is high chance you didn’t even have PPI.
Oh and as already stated... lose the attitude!0 -
1 - RBS have said they have nothing that indicates it was them.
RBS stated in there letter that they did not sell me the PPI Policy..Yet my phone call to them today revealed they do have details of the Lombard Loans but asked for paperwork to be submitted..When I pressed them on the TSB/Lloyds Bank being responsible for the Policy, they could not give me any reason as to why that was in the letter..Make of that what you will.
So, as you are 100% who it was, which Lombard was it?
The Loan agreement states Lombard Bank Limited (Lombard Direct) Enfield Middlesex,
Lombard Bank Limited wrote to me in 2004 stating RBS Group had taken over but I was still a Lombard Customer. I have the letter still.
I suspect you should be complaining to Santander as you say the loan was 1998 and RBS took Lombard Direct on in 2000.
According to RBS they have details of two Lombard loans I took out in 98 and 2000..They want me to send proof of the loans as the account numbers don't tally with mine ...0 -
