This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
Pretty reasonable sleep last night so up to watch Piers Morgan rant about Harry and Meghan on the news this morning. Feel sad for the queen in all this mess she doesn't need this at her age
Quiet week ahead work wise...not good for the bank account but will give me time to do some business planning and some selling. Also means I can fit in some house stuff so onwards with the decluttering. Managed to fill a charity bag yesterday and actually think clothes wise I dont have too much more I want to fling. Saying that I have lots of clothes I dont wear much but equally dont want to get rid of. Think Ill focus on some non clothing decluttering for a while.
Has everyone in our group checked their email ready for the switch over? Looks like we will be losing our green format sadly but as long as we can still get on.
Food was a turkey roast from the freezer and as usual eyes bigger than belly so plenty left for a bubble and squeak tonight with a poached egg
Nothing much else to report hope everyone has a good day

Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark and blustery.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge - getting ready to do battle with technology yet again - when I was working last week one of my colleagues said that since the new machine has been installed they haven't had a complete day where everything has worked properly! We didn't have that many problems with the previous stuff and we're told this is progress!!! We'll see what awaits us when we get in this morning.
Late lunch yesterday was roast pork with all the extras - tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I really need to get back into my healthier eating - my body is protesting about the food I've been eating and so have my normal salad and melon all in my cooler bag ready to go to work - I know that within a couple of days I'll start to feel better.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Monday again, where does the weekend go?
Nothing much happening here, still not managed to get to swimming, I have a strange pain in my throat, not sore but more glandular, very strange!
My healthy eating is going well, feel better already. Just hope I have the willpower to say no to all the goodies at work!
I found a lovely white cotton throw in the loft that has been washed but is taking ages to dry, perhaps that's why it was in the loft.
Any news on the new work Nelski?
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning all x
Had a busy weekend what with builders quoting for work and shopping.
Took the dog for a long walk yesterday with DH and I don't know who was more worn out DH or the dog lol.
Busy day ahead getting all the housework done and back on track as things always seem to go to pot at the weekend.
Wm is on and I hear dd stirring upstairs so as soon as she is gone to work I will get dressed and walk the dog. Then let battle commence.
Need to get lunches prepared for DH for work this week and plan this weeks menu and update the boards.
OK enough from me.
Hugs to all in need xBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. All quiet weather-wise at the mo but we have heavy rain forecast for this afternoon. Bah.
My meeting with Sparkle went well. She is such a sweet little thing. Not as timid as I was expecting but didn't want anything to do with me all the same! The fosterer said not to take it personally, she will soon get used to me. She's quite a character really and I could see foster carer is quite attached to her. I felt a bit cruel saying I would love to "adopt" her. So it's all going through. The rescue centre will get her chipped with my details etc. And I, in the meanwhile, will need to go shopping for a scratching post, toys, food etc. Don't waste money on a bed for her, they said, she prefers a cardboard box! I am getting all excited!
I am housebound this morning as I am expecting delivery of a small parcel. The usual jobs will keep me occupied till it arrives I suppose. At some point I want to watch Vera as I did my usual trick of falling asleep watching it last night.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Dry here atm but very cold we are due a big storm after lunch so will just stay in the warm and dry tonight.
Off to work for me I have a short week this week though as I have the breast clinic on Wednesday which usually takes most of the day so I have booked the day off.
Roast pork tonight which is all cooked and will just need heating through.
We still have a few bags of dd's stuff in the hallway so we will maybe do another couple of them tonight, dd was not up to doing it yesterday, we are getting there slowly.
TA I am so excited about sparkle !! I think you will get along very well together xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Nothing yet camelot...she did say it be be a couple of weeks ....annoying but I'm going to assume I haven't got it then if they don't respond its not a surprise :cool:0 -
Good morning folks.
DM's visitor yesterday was lovely. They both just chatted for three hours, lots of laughter coming from the bedroom.
Last night I sparked out by 9.30pm and slept soundly for a change. Now I'm just lounging in bed for a bit longer. The window cleaner is due though perhaps Storm Brendan may scupper that.
The fridge is stuffed and the washing is up to date.
TA - Sparkle sounds perfect.
Now I wish you all a happy and peaceful Monday.0 -
Morning :hello:

redruby What a scrote. I have much stronger words but the forum won't allow them.
Thank God she had the strength to leave, I know it isn't easy xx
TravellingAbuela Great news! I love a good pet adoption story x
The weather doesn't look good, I'll try to fit our walk around the rain and hope we don't get caught out in it. The chicken run is soggy, I was hoping to rake over the worst parts, rake up some leaves from the garden and put them in there. It's pointless while it's raining so I'll just see how it goes.
I have some work to do this morning, I'll do two hours then leave the rest for tomorrow. I want to declutter and rearrange my little room, the others are still seeing it as a dumping ground. I'm going to dump their stuff back where it came from and possibly put a lock on the door

Good morning,
I hope everyone had a good weekend.
My weekend was very quiet actually, with all evenings being sat chilled out on the couch. During the day was much of the usual; gym, yoga, supermarket, tidying up etc. I was meant to have another date on Sunday night but unfortunately she spent some time in hospital over the weekend with stomach issues, so that's been postponed.
The upside to that is that I didn't spend anything that wasn't necessary, grabbing another 2 NSD's. I also finished applying for a couple of other jobs that I liked the look of too. January always seems to be a good time to job hunt.
Been to the gym this morning and I'll go to yoga tonight, too. I had my last face time call with my step-bro in South Korea as he leaves to come back to the UK tomorrow, we're all glad to have him back. I've also got a catch up call with my step-dad tonight, to no doubt talk through the job stuff. He's always a good soundboard for that sort of thing.
Right, must get on with it.
TA - Congrats on the new addition!0 -
Morning Everyone,
How fast last week went.
Glad your visit with Sparkle went well TravellingAbuela . We have two cats, and lets just say it is like owning two children. They certainly keep us on our toes. Just remember 'Sparkle' will own you not you own Sparkle. Looking forward to hearing about her when she comes to live with you.
I have come to love Mondays as it singing group night. I am part of a community singing group, and I love it. For an hour we sing various songs - and for one hour I can forget about all of my troubles.
