O/S Daily Sunday 12th January 2020

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS2 watching trash tv, DS1 still in his pit, and I'm enjoying first cuppa whilst on here. I'll be heading to the shower shortly.

Now getting light, wet underfoot after rain during the night and still quite blustery, chilly too.

Dinner last night was takeaway - which we enjoyed. I'm remembered to get the pork joint out to defrost - so roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, swede, yorkshires and gravy for lunch.

Yesterday was chilled, visited the parents, then home for takeaway and tv - although we were all shattered and not late too late to bed.

We'll be having a chilled day today before going back to work tomorrow.

Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning, and thanks NMLC.

I've been up since ridiculous o'clock, so I know I'll be flagging later, but it might mean I get a good nigh's sleep tonight.

After saying yesterday that I didn't know what wonderful things were going to happen, nothing did, unsurprisingly. Didn't go out at all, just pottered and did some ironing.
Dh is going to de clutter the shed before we buy a new one, and he 's got a few things out of the loft that can go to the tip, including a video recorder (why did we keep that, did we think they would come back into use) and other stuff that should have been thrown out before now. He says there's other stuff up there that can go as well, saves the family doing it when we pop off!!

I really must buy some bread and veg today, I seem to have been saying that for days.
There's the never ending ironing to finish, then the ironing fairy will create a bit more (thanks. ironing fairy)

Anyway I'll stop waffling and hope everyone has a good Sunday.

    Take care folks

    Morning everyone.

Thanks for starting us off nmlc.

I've about to get ready and go swimming. Later on this afternoon DM has another visitor, this time a very lovely woman who is undergoing chemo. Yesterday's visitor stayed for over five hours  doing the Times cryptic crossword and the New Years Day Jumbo.

    Happy Sunday to everyone.

    Good morning

Up and ready early. DH has to have an endoscopy at 9! On a Sunday! Still, at least parking at the hospital will be easier. It's usually a nightmare. DD is taking us, so that I have someone to chat to, she says. I'm very grateful as I fear it will be a long morning.

Right! Coat on. Fingers crossed. Off we go.

    Morning All

Better weather this morning but much colder. I'm sure there's more rain to come, we had a huge hail storm last night.

Scarlett, I was in the loft yesterday too, sorted quite a lot of stuff but more to go!
Someone came to buy the moses basket and stand last night so that's one big thing out of the way and some money for little Sophie's money box.

Not too much planned for today but may visit Ikea to spend my christmas tree voucher, I'm getting the mattress for Sophie's big cot so it will be well spent.

Have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX

    Morning :hello:

Happycas I had earache with a problem tooth a few years ago, the tooth was removed and the earache disappeared. Referred (or deferred?) pain, I think the dentist called it. He explained it all at the time but I don't remember exactly what he said so I just think of it as confused nerves :D

ScarletRibbons There was no strong nasty flavour with the jet wash part of the cleaning, it just tasted 'fresh' – sorry, I don't know how else to describe it! I've always liked the lemon flavour of the sandblasting though :D

I've been in and out of the dentist's chair a lot over the last few years, they've fixed a lot, removed a few things and have been very patient with me, giving long explanations about what they're doing and why. Nervous patient :D So you'd think I'd have learned the technical terms for at least some dental things, but I haven't, lol.

I noticed a couple of fleas on Scamp yesterday, I have no idea where he picked them up from. He's been combed (he didn't enjoy that at all!) then washed with flea shampoo, his bedding has been vacuumed and most of it washed, there's a couple of blankets that wouldn't fit in the machine so I put them outside, I'll wash them this morning.

I have no plans for today, apart from vacuuming the house with the dyson on super-suction setting, and meticulous flea-checking :D

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I wish I could say I had slept in but, sadly, it was the usual silly o'clock wakening, It gets jading.

I made the effort to go on my bus ride to Otley yesterday but, by heck, it was chilly in that biting wind. Not a lot of stallholders had set up and I don't blame them! Splashed out on a jumper in St Gemma's! 99p for a lovely jade M & S one. Then more Tesco gift bags from the 20p shop tempted me. Not for me as I got stocked up last time, but I thought DD would welcome them. Bestest bargain was in the cut price grocery shop - 2 bottles of Heinz Sofrito for £1. I got 4 bottles as it's suddenly not available again in any of the sm.

Today is my scheduled meet up with Sparkle puss cat. Unless she has gone a-wandering again I am due to meet her about 1.00. I know she will be very wary of me.

I got some Xmas topside in gravy out for my dinner later, which I will have with carrot and swede mash and lots of veg.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Hope all goes well for Mr Happycas at the hospital. Take care all xx

    Morning all

Bright here for the moment but rain due later I think.

I could not get on at all yesterday it kept asking for my password which I was putting in and it would not accept it got up this morning and it worked perfectly !! Very strange.

DD and I went over to her house yesterday to read the meters his car was not there so we went in only to find he was in, he has smashed up the brand new fridge freezer dd bought pulled the curtains and rail down off the wall smashed the walls with a hammer causing holes and smashed up a chest of drawers, all the time he is begging her to come back and saying how bad he has had it and that he has not slept or eaten properly, did not once ask dd how she was or if she was ok he was just on and on about himself ! I was so proud of my dd though she stayed very calm and strong and just kept repeating that it was over and they need to sort the house, we came away in the end as he was getting all uptight so no further on again, dd is going to phone the mortgage company again tomorrow and maybe see a solicitor next week to try and get the ball rolling. She is doing so well coping with all this bless her.

Today we are having roast pork and all the trimmings we will do enough for tomorrow too.

DD and I cleared all her stuff out of the conservatory yesterday and put it away so today we will do the hallway and under stairs cupboard, Im hoping it will make her feel slightly better if the place is sorted out rather than have her stuff all over.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Morning

Happycas Hope it all goes well for DH at the hospital
Scarlet Decluttering is so rewarding :) May tackle some later too
    Gers enjoy your swim
camelotIkea on a Sunday ...now thats brave :D

Persisting it down all morning here so good excuse for inside jobs only. Watching Dr Dolittle to ease into the day.

Cleared the fridge out yesterday which turned out to be a full strip down and scrub thanks to another random cucumber piece in the salad drawer ....I swear I dont buy that many cucumbers but I can always find a soggy one somewhere.....must be those pesky house wreckers planting them again. Anyway I have a spotless fridge again. Dinner last night was freezer liver and some mash. Today Im opting for a roast from the freezer stock with some turkey. Going to satisfy my cooking bug with an apple crumble.

Today its a clothes focus....I have a couple of charity bags to go tomorrow so will try to fill at least one then put away the mountain of clothes I seem to have out at the moment. Exciting day then :D

Hope you all have a good Sunday

    Hi all,

I've just waved Steve and Chris off to play golf. Chris had asked me to turn up some new jeans and chinos but when he arrived in them both Steve and I were convinced that they were fine so I don't have to do them thank goodness. He did bring a shirt to have a button sewn on though (if I used the emojis it would be the eye roll one).

I'm having real problems with my shoulder atm, I've been trying to ignore it for over a year because it gets better and then worse again but I think I'm going to have to go to the Dr about it. I shall have to gird my loins for the fight for an appointment.

Not a lot else going on here, might have a bit of a wardrobe sort and definitely some sewing to do.
