How can I further improve my credit score?

Hi,

I am looking to get a mortgage in the next two years so I am trying to be proactive about improving my credit score.

Experiam have as fair at 801 and from the information on there is seems to be the lack of credit I have at the moment that is the issue. I have a credit card that I took out just to improve credit score, also a mobile phone contract and home utilities. What else can I do?

Trans Union again have me as fair at 551. They are bringing up an old debt that I have been paying off at £10 a month for the last 6 years but I am going to pay off the remaining balance on that this year with some inheritance I am receiving. This is the only debt I have.

Equifax have me very low at 100. In the summer I was around 250 but every month it get lower and lower and I can't see any reason for it.

What can I do that I am not already to boost my scores?

Thanks

Nothing because the scores are meaningless and will not be seen or taken into account by any mortgage lender so don't waste your time and effort in trying to improve meaningless numbers or taking out financial products such as credit cards because a credit score company who will have received a financial incentive if you took the credit card out through their link suggested that you do so.
If you want a credit card, fine. I have several and find them very useful but certainly did not take them out for the purpose of improving my credit score.
All you need to be concerned about is maintaining your financial affairs in good order.

Use your credit card for normal everyday expenditure and pay it in full every month. Make sure all the rest of your payments are made on time. Make sure you’re on the electoral roll. Save as big a deposit as possible.

However the real killer is the defaulted account you are paying. Pay it off as soon as possible.

Well you have seen for yourself how the 3 scores/ratings can vary from 1 agency to the next, no 1 except you can see the scores, lenders see the history.

    Is the history correct ?
