Cheaper insurance for foreign driver
Options
Hi all,
I have just passed my UK driving test but already have a license from Malaysia (obtained in 2016 a few months before I left for uni, but I have been driving regularly to internships etc. when I was home for the summers). Was wondering if this could give me cheaper insurance? The only problem is I was not added as a named second driver on any of the family cars as the insurance covers the whole car no matter who is driving, so the only document I have is my licence.
Thanks

Not really. You’ll just have to shop around for quotes. There will certainly be no no claims discount available when you never had a policy in your own name.0

No.
Remember that your Malaysian licence was only valid for use in the UK for one year after you became resident in the UK - which is why you've needed to take your UK test.0
