Stupid question time
At the moment we are with EDF which has a cancellation charge of £60 our contract ends 29/02 and we are moving as have found a better deal
Should we start the new contract 29/2 or 1/3 to avoid the fee ?

    You don't choose the date.

EDF will write to you about 45 days before 29/2 (ie next week) - then you are free to switch without penalty.

If you start the process now your new supplier takes control and will let you know date of the switch, when you should provide meter readings and date of the first DD (which may well be almost immediately)
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Thanks, we have already got the email from them and also latest bill this week which does say no fee but when I put our details in USwitch it said we had the charge.
    I will get it sorted

My energy tariff is ending soon - when should I switch?

In accordance with Ofgem regulations, you won't need to pay any exit fees to switch away from your energy supplier within 49 days of your plan ending....

I wouldn't use uswitch as they no longer show you the tariff unit rates and standing charges for the companies they cannot switch you to. Instead, they just show you the annual and monthly cost for those.

Detailed tariff information is showing for me :)

    Click on "more info"
Scroll down in the resultant pop-up window
At "Plan information Details including unit rates, standing charges and exit fees", click the box marked "View +"

Oh, yeah. It's working now back on the old web design layout. Maybe they had complaints.
