Roof pipe collar fitting

Hi all

Yesterday I had a repair done for my roof pipe vent leak.

I'm not happy with job so need to check if I'm right. The old vent pipe was positioned straight up. They have fitted a new pipe collar that is now not only wonky but it is at an approx 45 degree angle to the pitch of the roof and not straight up as before. It is a higher than average pitch roof.

Does this matter? My concern is being at an angle there is more pressure on one side of the collar which may cause it to fail?

Does anyone know?

Thanks

What did the fitter say when you told them you were not happy?

He said they only do collars for roof vent pipes in 2 sizes, either flat or pitched. I have looked at many roofs recently with pipes and on differing pitches they are all vertical.

Anyone able to help if having a vent pipe at 45 degrees rather than vertical is an issue on the roof?

The vent pipe should be vertical. The pipe/roof penetration fittings are usually EPDM rubber and so accommodate a range of pitch angles. The fitting should look like something like this: https://www.toolstation.com/weathering-slate/p23915

There should be one of these on top of it:

The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
