To get to see abroad, if you don't like flying, cruises are a good alternative
You could say the same about anything:-- Why go on a certain type of holiday as they all overcharge for something
- Why go to the cinema, its mega expensive, and the snacks...well...
- Why buy food, it has been taxed
They do it, because they want to enjoy life. We get overcharged for pretty much EVERY single item we ever buyWith love, POSR0 - Why go on a certain type of holiday as they all overcharge for something

Our cruise (a special one for my special birthday) is costing approx £4300 for 2 of us. Drinks package would cost approx £2500.
I don't consider that 'a few hundred'.
I'm not grumbling. I have a choice. I choose not to pay it.0 -
I wish cruise companies would come up with a drinks package for moderate drinkers as when we've had a package you've felt that you have to overconsume to get your money's worth - and again if one you is a drinker & the other isn't then you have don't have the package or one is effectively wasted.
We tend to cruise with P&O and have found their drinks prices reasonably to the extent that, given our level of alcohol consumption, the package would have been a waste of money.
I tend to take the mixer cans of coke and buy the spirit on board as I thought that mixer quantities were extortionate.0 -

For some people there is no practical alternative if they want to get away for a while. Friends of ours are unable to fly for medical reasons but can go on cruises from UK ports. Are you suggesting that they shouldn't go on holiday. We all have to suck up what tour operators / hotels / airlines do to an extent, that doesn't mean we have to like it.0
