This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

No chance of a nice weekend lie in sadly ....hopefully tomorrow instead.

Lots of dull housey stuff planned today. It appears I went to bed and lots of people snook in, wore all my clothes till they needed washing and messed up just about every room.....wish they wouldn't do that :o So big list to crack through.

Still on the mammoth freezer empty so whilst I want to cook something fabulous for dinner I will be space clearing instead. I did an inventory last week which is on a list on my phone now so at least I know whats in there. Tonight is liver and onions with mash :) and I have meals planned next week. May have to make something sweet and gooey instead .....thinking an apple crumble.

So pretty boring day planned but on a positive Pjs can stay on and no doubt James Martin will be popping round this morning so all good :)

Have a lovely day everyone

Good morning folks. Thanks for starting us off NELSKI. Hope you can catch those pesky Borrowers!

The wind has been howling and screeching all night and looks set to carry on all day.

On the agenda is my usual Saturday shopping trip and then DMs visitor. I doubt I'll be going anywhere in this weather.

The Doc came to see DM yesterday and struggled to explain to her that many of her symptoms were a 'natural progression' of her heart failure. He's lovely just fairly young. He's also given her some additional meds to help sort out her digestion problems.

On the side of good news I managed to spend a long time sleeping on my left side last night :j which meant I slept not too badly (apart from the howling storm). And the weird exercises are being effective, my lop-sided gait is improving.

I'm listening to Tony Blackburn, it's odd how I could sing along with The Seekers, Zager & Evans and Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich - word perfect!

There's plenty of books to cruise through so I'll be content today. I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Saturday.
• Morning folks and thanks NELSKI, Grr to those pesky night time visitors messing your house up. GERS I too am listening to Tony, reliving my mis-spent youth. It only seems like yesterday! We never thought we would be old in those days did we!

I am having a debate with myself on whether I can be bothered going on a bus trip to Otley this morning. It's market day. Not a big market as markets go but there's always the attraction of the numerous charity shops to browse round, as well as the Everything 20p shop! I never come out of there empty handed!

The eating from the freezers resolution is going well, Since Xmas I have only bought f & v and dairy stuff. Since I tidied them out and got them organised it's easier to find what I am looking for rather than doing a mass rummage.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. Take care all xx

Morning :hello:

I've had a busy week – lots of work came in (which I did straight away!), Scamp was more confident so our walks were longer, the car failed it's MOT on monday but it was sorted and passed by thursday, and I had a hygienist appointment yesterday morning. I'm usually useless after an appointment, my sensitive teeth can't cope with the cold water so I need anesthetic but it always gives me a headache as it wears off and leaves me feeling really tired. Not any more, they have a new machine which heats the water :D
The weather hasn't been great so the garden jobs I'd planned didn't happen. I decluttered indoors instead, I only have one room left to do now.

We've had a lot of rain the last few days, but yesterday was dry. Mr tru dropped me off at the dentist then took Scamp to a field for a run around for an hour, he needed it after being stuck on a lead lately (Scamp, not mr tru, lol). There was blue sky by lunchtime but it was very cold, so I spent the afternoon indoors.

I have some washing to do, hopefully we'll have no rain so I can hang it outside to dry. The weather doesn't usually matter because my lines are under cover, but the air has been so damp each time it's rained lately that it hasn't been drying out there at all. There's a bit of tidying to do, not much so it won't take long. I'm looking forward to a walk, I didn't have one yesterday, I missed going and I feel lazy, lol. I'll catch up with my programs this afternoon.

I'm going to take my time next week, this week was far too busy for my liking :D To fit everything in, I was vacuuming and dusting early, before the others had left for work. Daft as it sounds, it felt like it set me up for the day, so I'm going to carry on doing that. The work last week was an unusual amount, I don't often get that much so I'll go back to my normal routine with that.

Morning everyone
The wind has howled here all night too and is still howling - I woke a few times
I'm going to Newcastle this morning to visit DD and baby in hospital - they were moved again last night and are now on a ward rather than having their own room so DD wasn't happy.
I did some cooking for her last night and will take some sandwiches too - the food in the hospital is really expensive. There is no canteen just franchises which are more expensive than if they were 10 minutes away down the street!
Hopefully the strong winds won't affect the trains.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Now light but very blustery and air quite chilly - wind was bad in the night hoping it'll die off during today as it kept me awake.

We have DS2 arriving later this morning, he's with us for a week and then away. Really proud mama as he's just passed some important tests for his job and has done well.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight will be a takeaway I think.

I'll be heading into town in a bit to visit the building society then home to get some jobs done. I have some lovely fresh sausage meat from the butchers, I'll make that into sausage rolls.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning
Very grey and dull here.
Seems I'm copying everyone today!
Nelski - as so often, sleep eluded me. I do go to sleep but then wake silly early, 2:30 today, and that's it.
Gers and TA - joining the singalong!
Tru - I'm at the dentist on Monday. Can't decide if it's one hyper sensitive tooth, or needing a filling. It seems to be causing earache but I don't even see how that's possible!
Young Voices yesterday was great. 4000+ junior school children singing with such energy and enthusiasm can't help but be uplifting. I loved it.
Nothing definite on the cards today. Just poodling about. I've recently discovered how much fun decoupage is so might have a play with that.
Enjoy your Saturday

Morning All

Wow, the wind out there is ferocious! I'm meant to be baby wrangling this morning while DD chooses a new pair of glasses but not sure she will want to go in this weather.

Bedding has been washed, it'll go on the pulley when I can rouse myself! I've also sorted some paperwork that has been hanging about for ages but only took a few minutes to do.

Well done to your DS nmlc.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX
• Good morning, it's very windy out there this morning. I don't think we'll be going far.

DP1, hope the baby is improving, and your DD is ok.
Congrats to your DS, NMLC.

Tru, I had a hygienist visit earlier this week, and they have started adding this vile tasting stuff to the (freezing) water - it had a bleachy taste, and stung my throat. I put my hand up to stop them and ask what had happened to the water. The hygienist said it was an additive they have been told to use, some sort of sanitizer.

Nels, I have nocturnal visitors who leave their ironing, they must visit us all!!

We're eating from the freezer as well TA, there's still quite a bit of stuff to get through.

Glad you're doing all right Gers.

Don't know what delights today will bring, it'll be a wonderful surprise.
Hope everyone has a good day anyway,
Take care folks and don't get blown away.

I survived the horizontal rain and blustery winds!

Been to Marks, Waitrose, Tesco and the Post Office, now need to feed DM. She's in the loo so I've got a little respite. :rotfl:
• I am crackered, now I know why I employ a cleaner. She has been off since before Christmas, was due last Wednesday but cried off as she had an awful cold. She is coming next Wednesday but the kitchen and bathroom really needed doing, so I set too after breakfast.....am now shattered for the rest of the day!!

Sunny but very cold, quite a breeze blowing still.

No plans for the rest of the day except to cook supper, grilled gammon, tomato, egg and fried bread. I need to defrost some fruit for a crumble tomorrow. Have some rhubarb that will do nicely.
