Phone conversation on ppi claim 😐

Just had a conversation regarding a claim for PPI with the bank. I filled out a form from money saving expert in August asking if I had PPI . They are investigating a mortgage I took out in 1997.(my first mortgage )They said that MRI was put on the mortgage and ran for 4 years which ended when I moved house and remortgaged . Can anyone tell me what MRI is please. Many thanks

MRI is Mortgage Repayment Insurance - PPI has gone by many names over the years

It's basically a PPI policy covering your mortgage repayments if you were ill or made redundant.

Did you not think to ask this while you had the telephone interview?
  • No as he continued talking about another part of the same claim and asking questions on my circumstances
  • No as he continued talking about another part of the same claim and asking questions on my circumstances
..and what were your complaint reasons exactly?
  • I asked if I had any PPI as had full pay for a year if sick and redundancy packages etc and cover probably didn’t benefit
  • I asked if I had any PPI as had full pay for a year if sick and redundancy packages etc and cover probably didn’t benefit
These are complaint reasons generally applied to loan and credit card PPI complaints.

MRI (or Mortgage PPI) would pay out in addition to any Employment Benefits. Possible "Redundancy packages" were and are never guaranteed.

Unless the Bank find other elements of the sale of your PPI indicate a mis-sale, you can expect a rejection of your complaint I'm afraid.
  • Ok thank you for your help. Wasn’t expecting anything as didn’t know if I had it or not ( no paperwork as lust when I moved house)

Full sick pay for a year...? Mind me asking what profession pays out such generous benefits? I only ask as although often claimed by people making complaints, this almost always fell away when questioned further as it is the most rare of employee benefits
