Red light question
Options
After reading on google I’m pretty sure you’ll agree a fine for running the red light will be issued. But I just wanted to seek opinion.
Today I approached an intersection with a pedestrian crossing and the light was green. However I noticed someone who obviously doesn’t value his life much lol and he was trying to cross the road without waiting. So even though my light was green I stopped. Where I stopped was passed the white line and whilst I was stationed the light went red, so I did not proceed, instead I checked no one was close behind me and I reversed back a bit so I was not out in the way.
I’m nervous I’ll be done for going through a red light or being passed the line ?

The law says that "vehicular traffic shall not proceed beyond the stop line" when the lights are red. You didn't, so you haven't committed an offence.0

have occasionaly pushed my luck with the amber and gone through a red a few milisecinds after it turned.
Never had an issue, dont live life with unnecessary fear, you should be alright, worry about it if/when the problem materialises
my bet would be you wont hear anything of it.0 -

I like that advice :T
I’ll carry that through on more than just this occasion. Thank you0 -

No luck-pushing involved.0 -
The OP didn't "go through" on red, or even on amber. He/she went through on green, and then reversed on red, which is not an offence.
No luck-pushing involved.
Correct I went through on green and it changed to red.. but I reversed a bit to get myself back a bit
So wondered if being over the lines I will be prosecuted for being through a red light... but I never continued any further forward0 -

Who or how were you observed in any case? If there was a camera it would not be triggered unless you entered the junction post red change.
A red light offence is a Road Traffic offence with penalty points and can only be enforced via the police. If not a camera then you would need to have been stopped and would have probably been issued with a fixed penalty notice.
So unless there was something peculiar about this junction nothing to be concerned over.0 -
I did read that there are some new laws being passed which allow other councils to enforce certain traffic violations in addition to those they can already do such as parking and bus lanes. I don’t know if that includes red lights or not. The article I read seemed to focus on yellow boxes. In this case the poster has nothing to worry about ..........0

And in the event of a stop, most forces no longer issue fixed penalty notices at the roadside: the offence is reported to a central office where a decision is made.0
