Dominoes Pizza Delivery Insurance

Hi There, new to this forum and hoping you guys can help me out please.

My son is a Pizza delivery driver for Dominoes. He has car insurance for social and comuting, he is covered for his business when delivering on Dominoes own driver isnsurance, which we are aware is for third party only.

Last week he had an accident whilst delivering causing £2000 worth of (estimated by 3 repairers) damage to his car, which is currently classed as un safe to drive due to headlight misalinment. The car is worth £7000 and we know does not need to be written off. It is all body work repair. There were 3 witnesses to the accident, the other driver admitted it was their fault, actually in store in front of staff and has authorised us to contact her insurance to make the claim as they cant afford to cover cash costs themselves.

My question is should we be contacting her insurers or should Dominoes be contacting her insurers? As my son was under their insurance at the time. Dominoes know that this is not the drivers fault, and to my mind given the circumstances, their insurers should pay for the damage in full, with no cost to Dominoes. we know third party cover would only effect my sons car not being fixed if he had been at fault. But it has been a week now, and the Dominoes Area Manager hasnt contacted us to inform us of what we need to do or what they intend to do. He is losing wages not working, his store are a driver down and this needs putting to bed asap.

Any advise on this scenario would be graetly appreciated.

Thanks Rob

As the third party has admitted full responsibility the simplest solution is instigate a claim directly against their insurer as they advised and provide the witnesses details and any photograph's / videos your son may have.

Your son will need to inform their insurers of the incident and presumably Domino's insurers also.

Your son may have legal cover as part of his own policy to chase the third party insurers on his behalf also but it seems to be they have been fair and simply told you to contact their insurers to get it sorted.

Thanks Chopper, thanks for the reply. much appreciated. Not sure if they have contacted their insurers yet, but Dominoes know as it all happened outside the store, and all witnesses and other driver came inside store to sort it. I just wanted to be double sure with Dominoes before I contact them, they may have instigatred contact all ready, but has we only have a wall of silence from them I wanted to be sure my understanding of the incident was correct before I contact their insurers.

    Sounds pretty straightforward. Good luck.
